After missing a doe at 29 yards in South Dakota, I was determined to get in done back in my home state Florida. I had this one buck consistently coming in on one of my cameras and decided to give it a few sits. Multiple shooter bucks came and went but they were a little out of reach and it drove me crazy. After 5 years with a compound and over a 100 kills with the compound (I work at a high fence) I was ready to switch it over to the long bow/recurve and I finally connected with one. My first buck with a long bow and probably my favorite hunt to date.

First Archery harvest at 58 years old with traditional bow, instinctual aiming and several years in the making to get close. Crawled to within 20 yards of 4 bedded bucks. Had to wait 1 hour and 45 minutes until they stood up. Shot approximately 26 yards.

First big deer, first one I got was my button Buck and I was oddly more happier with it because of the story, I got it out of out trespassers tree stand (no bait) froze near to death waiting for one to come by and got a decent shot on it, I had to carry it a mile downhill and the nice old feller next door let me drag it through his yard to our house. Me and my great granddaddy both got buttons as our firsts and I got to keep his picture.
