The Calling Crane Elite Asiatic Bow combines the timeless performance of a traditional horse bow with distinctive premium styling. This beautiful bow features a striking golden-thread Nanmu (Phoebe) wood veneer. Native exclusively to China and highly valued for its beauty, this rare wood gives each bow a refined, elegant appearance while preserving the bow's proven shooting characteristics.

Handle:  The handle is crafted from durable Micarta, providing excellent strength, stability, and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity. The smooth, ergonomic grip offers a comfortable shooting experience while maintaining the traditional profile expected of an Asiatic-style bow. Weighing approximately 1 lb. 7 oz. (23.2 oz.), this bow remains lightweight and responsive in the hand.

Limbs:  The limbs feature a golden-thread Nanmu wood veneer and Action Bamboo core between Bearpaw clear fiberglass on the back and belly. This provides excellent energy storage, smooth draw characteristics, and dependable durability. The lightweight limb construction promotes quick recovery and efficient arrow flight while preserving the smooth shooting feel traditional archers enjoy.

String:  Includes a high-performance D97 bowstring for enhanced speed and efficiency. Recommended brace height is 7-1/2" to 8-1/4", with approximately 8" serving as a good starting point for tuning and setup.

Designed in the classic Asiatic tradition, the Calling Crane Elite incorporates siyahs, the rigid outer limb sections found on many historical horse bows. Beyond honoring centuries of bowmaking heritage, siyahs help keep the limb tips stiff, creating a lever effect that contributes to a smoother draw cycle, efficient energy transfer, and impressive arrow speed. This design provides the crisp performance and forgiving shooting characteristics that many traditional archers appreciate.

To balance the benefits of the siyah design, the Elite features a unique series of weight-reduction holes near the limb tips. These carefully placed cutouts help reduce mass in the outer limbs, minimizing the added weight traditionally associated with siyahs while maintaining their performance advantages. The result is a bow that feels lively in the hand, recovers quickly after the shot, and stands out with a distinctive modern interpretation of a historic design.

Whether used for traditional target shooting, instinctive archery, historical-inspired practice, or simply appreciating the craftsmanship of Asiatic bow design, the Calling Crane Elite Asiatic Bow offers a unique blend of performance, heritage, and visual appeal that sets it apart from ordinary horse bows.

Every Calling Crane Elite Bow comes with a decorative bow sock.

As with most horse bows and Eastern style bows, the Calling Crane is designed to shoot off the knuckle. We recommend using a bow glove with this bow. See the Hawkwood Bow Glove here.

Click here to see our Bow Stringers. It is recommended to unstring your bow if you do not plan to be shooting more than week. Store your bow on its side, or hanging vertically from a peg.
