Experience the speed, maneuverability, and smooth shooting characteristics that have made Asiatic horse bows popular for centuries. Designed for thumb draw, Mediterranean draw, and traditional off-the-knuckle shooting styles, the compact 58" Calling Crane Asiatic Bow delivers impressive performance in a lightweight package.
Whether you're exploring historical archery traditions, practicing mounted archery techniques, or simply looking for a unique shooting experience, the Calling Crane combines modern materials with classic Eastern-inspired design.
Unlike conventional center-shot bows, this traditional one-piece Asiatic recurve is designed for off-the-knuckle shooting and can be used by both right- and left-handed archers. Its lightweight construction and compact dimensions make it easy to handle while maintaining the stability and efficiency needed for consistent shooting.
Handle: The handle is crafted from durable Micarta, providing excellentstrength, stability, and resistance to changes in temperature and humidity. The smooth, ergonomic grip offers a comfortable shooting experience while maintaining the traditional profile expected of an Asiatic-style bow. Weighing approximately 1 lb. 7 oz. (23.2 oz.), this bow remains lightweight and responsive in the hand.
Limbs: The limbs feature an Action Bamboo core laminated between Bearpaw glass on the back and belly. This proven combination provides excellent energy storage, smooth draw characteristics, and dependable durability. The lightweight limb construction promotes quick recovery and efficient arrow flight while preserving the smooth shooting feel traditional archers enjoy.
String: Includes a high-performance D97 bowstring for enhanced speed and efficiency. Recommended brace height is 7-1/2" to 8-1/4", with approximately 8" serving as a good starting point for tuning and setup.
The Calling Crane incorporates siyahs, the rigid outer limb sections found on many historical horse bows. Siyahs help keep the limb tips stiff, creating a lever effect that contributes to a smoother draw cycle, efficient energy transfer, and impressive arrow speed. To balance the benefits of the siyah design, the Calling Crane features a unique series of weight-reduction holes near the limb tips. These carefully placed cutouts help reduce mass in the outer limbs, minimizing the added weight traditionally associated with siyahs while maintaining their performance advantages.
Every Calling Crane Bow comes with a decorative bow sock.
As with most horse bows and Eastern style bows, the Calling Crane is designed to shoot off the knuckle. We recommend using a bow glove with this bow. See the Hawkwood Bow Glove here.

This bow is ambidextrous (for right and left hand archers). Available in draw weights of 29, 35, and 40# @ 28" draw.
Specifications:
Draw weight is marked at the nearest 5# increment to actual weight, (2#'s under and 3#'s over). This is an industry wide standard.
Bow stringer not included. A bow stringer is recommended for stringing any recurve bow or longbow. Stringing a bow without a bow stringer, or stringing it backwards will void a bow's warranty. Click here to see our Bow Stringers. It is recommended to unstring your bow if you do not plan to be shooting more than week. Store your bow on its side, or hanging vertically from a peg. Never rest the bow on the lower tip for extended periods of time. Never dry fire the bow (shooting without an arrow).
