Can you pour powder directly from a powder flask into a muzzleloader? While a powder flask is designed to conveniently carry and dispense black powder or Pyrodex®, most experienced muzzleloading shooters recommend pouring the powder into a separate powder measure before loading the firearm. Measuring each charge helps ensure consistent loads and follows widely accepted muzzleloading safety practices. Never pour powder into the barrel if there is any possibility that a lingering ember remains from the previous shot. A quality powder flask makes carrying and dispensing powder quick and convenient, while a separate powder measure helps deliver accurate, repeatable charges in the field or at the range.
