To preload, simply remove the threaded end cap and insert a patched round ball. Reattach the cap, then fill the opposite end with your measured powder charge. When it's time to reload, pour the powder into the barrel, place the loader against the muzzle, and push the end to start the patched ball. Finish seating the load with your ramrod, and you're ready for the next shot.
