Caribou

R.L. Page
2008

Our good friend, R.L. Page recently returned from a hunt in northern Quebec with a freezer full of meat! His first Caribou harvest was this very nice bull on a wet, rainy, Canadian day. We'll let Mr. Page tell the story as only he can.

"I sat by a rock, getting every bit as wet as the rock, waiting for him to come by and he did. I think he figured no-one was dumb enough to be up there in that weather but he was wrong. Wait; did I just call myself dumb? Anyway: He was worth waiting for and at 35 yards in 40 mph wind blowing straight at me I got my arrow on target and he only went about 30 yards before he fell. I couldn’t be happier with my very first Caribou."

Equipment Used:
66# Predator Recurve
2315 Easton Super-Slams
1979 Bear Super Razorheads

1961 Borsalino hat for luck

R.L. Page
2008

R.L. Page wasn't done after his first Caribou harvest. With only a hunch, stick, & string, he struck out into the Canadian wildnerss on the final day of his Quebec hunting trip and returned with this beauty.

"Four days later on my son’s birthday, as the migration thinned to cows and calves, I played a hunch. I got up at 4 and was out of camp at 4:25. At 5 till 5 I got to the place my hunch told me a nice bull might pass if I was early enough. He came by about 10 minutes later and stopped at 88.8 yards. (I later ranged it with a friend’s range-finder.) I focused on the sweet-spot and launched. My Bear Super-Razorhead went to the spot like a laser. Double lung and took out the artery cluster leaving his heart. He froze for 2-3 seconds then lunged about 15 yards forward and died."

Equipment Used:
66# Predator Recurve
2315 Easton Super-Slams
1979 Bear Super Razorheads
Predator camo
1961 Borsalino hat for luck

Denny Sturgis Jr
Denny Sturgis Jr., co-owner of the "Traditional Vision Quest" company, is no stranger to hard work, as he says "I pound nails for a living" (He owns a construction company too.). He worked hard to arrow this 'bou as well as to pack it out. A longbow trophy that looks great hanging on the wall of his den.
