Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

Don't look at the picture in the preview it looks A WHOLE LOT better. Trust me.
It's by far the best bow I've had, and shot. Very accurate, makes a beautiful whipping noise sometimes when it's in action. 5/5 I recommend this to everyone that's an archery or wants to be one. Easy to use very great price, buy it while you can! Going to tell everyone down at the range I shoot at to get one.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

Having a 68" longbow, I was itching for something more hunting hide-friendly, a shorter bow. The idea of a transportable take-down bow also appealed to me. The Sage seemed an affordable gamble to test the takedown recurve waters.Well, the 'gamble' paid off really well. As soos as the bow arrived, I made a flemish string. I lined the limb pockets with moleskin and padded the string grooves with calve's skin and fitted 'beaver balls' to the string. After shooting in the new string, I spent about an hour tuning. I settled on a 558gr arrow from my 50# bow. It shoots great. Its easy to draw, nice and quiet, accurate and has no noticeable hand shock. The only draw-back of this bow is that it leaves you with no good reason to go and buy another - more expensive - takedown recurve, unless you want something real pretty to impress your friends with. For hunting though, I wouldn't bother - my prey won't tell I killed them with a [$] bow.

I got my first bow and shot it about 15 times and the top limp delamenated and was disapointed. I returned the bow and got a new one in three days! I been shooting it alot and so far so good, a good bow for the money! I shot alot of carp with it! I might put one of my customs up this fall and try to bag a deer with it! It will also make a great back up bow! It hits hard and very powerful!

My 24 year old son wanted to get into traditional archery without breaking the bank. I read the reviews and recommended the sage. Wow, what a surprise when it was unpacked! This thing is way too good looking to only cost [$]! Shoots good too, but needed a little suede between limb and pocket to quiet the CLACK when firing.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

This bow is beautiful and the quality is hunting reliable with easy brake down ability. It dose the job for a great target bow at all ages. If you have a shorter draw length and want a 40 lb bow go for a 35lb. Almost all bows are judged at a 28'' draw length so a 45lb at a 23''draw length is really around 35lb. Also make sure you buy the bow stringer to prevent twisting a limb. So all in all it shoots amazingly good its a tad bit loud but thats fixable.Did I mention its beautiful and the people at 3rivers archery are wonderful and are there to make you a satisfied customer!

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was fast and service was a breeze! I had a habit of stepping throw my recurve bows. As for this beauty I twisted the limb and split the gluing inbetween the laminated wood. BUY A BOW STRINGER! But I will gratefully say the 3rivers archery crew where more then happy to replace the hole bow. "WOW" thay where also kind enough to pay for shipping."AMAZING"

I purchased this bow for my girls. I guess I really purchased it as a form of insurance for my good bows. Now when we go out in the back 40 to practice, I don't have to worry about the good bows getting beat up by them. The quality is reasonable. They like it and the price was right.

I bought 2 Sages this year. I've always hunted with a coumpound but wanted to try traditional hunting without spending a lot of money. I bought a LH 60lb model & within a month shot my first hog with it. I've since bought a custom longbow & will use the Sage as a backup. I just bought a second one, this a 40lb RH model for my 14yo & he loves it. These bows are not works of art but are good quality and shoot well for the price.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I bought one of the Sage Bows for a friend, who has been mowing my lawn for me, while I've been off work with an injury. For the money invested, I am impressed with it. Both in appearance and how well it performs. It was easy to set up and I was shooting bullseyes with it in no time flat. I have no doubt that it will harvest a whitetail this upcoming season. A few of my friends had a chance to see it and shoot it as well. They were also impressed with it, for the money invested. One of them ordered him one as well! Guess that says it all. For a beginner or recreational shooter I think it is a great bow. I would not hesitate to recommend it. I have also bought 4 of the Polaris takedowns for my kids and grandkids.
They are also quite the bow for the money. We've been shooting them a lot, for about 3 or 4 years now. I also own two Tomahawk Diamond SS Longbows purchased from 3 Rivers. They speak for themselves. Fast, Smooth, and easy on the eyes too.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I did quite a bit of shooting with a compound when I was growing up and recently decided to take up traditional archery. This bow is great for the money and provides an excellent way to get started. It's a solid, well-built bow that's good looking to boot. Yes, the finish might be rough in a few spots, but that's not an issue for me considering the price of the bow, which is why I still gave it five stars.

One point to keep in mind pertains to the issue of draw length. I have a 31" draw. With 35 pound limbs, I'm holding back 45 pounds at full draw (according to my bow scale). It's a real delight to shoot, but be aware of this when you select a draw weight in the event that you have a long draw like I do.

Service & Delivery comments:

Service and delivery was good, overall. No concerns, here.

One of the best values in a takedown recurve today. I am very pleased with the quality and fit of the Sage, Very smooth with little stacking. I purchased this bow in 40lbs to learn on, and work myself up to a higher draw weight for hunting purposes. However, it has proven smooth and quiet enough to hunt light game at it's present weight. I am quite happy with my purchase.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

Great bow for the price. I bought two, one for myself and one for my 13 year old son. Excellent beginner bow. I have owned many recurves and longbows over the last 30 years, and I can't say enough on how happy I am with these. I put calf hair silencers for string slap, otter hair silencers, and under my limbs I put a small slice of moleskin at the tip of the limb insert. I did not pu tthis on my son's, and mine is definately quieter with it on there. I also used a bear hair rest. If you are looking for an entry level bow, or just want one to have some fun with, or to hunt with, this is a good buy.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I have had this bow for 2 days and am very impressed with this bow for the money. Some of the reviews have said that the fit and finish was lacking but I have no complaints about the finish. I put a Bear Rug Rest and leather side plate on this bow due to the fact I did not like the little flipper deal it came with. I have the 55# @28" bow and it surprised me how fast it is spitting the 500 grain arrows out of the bow. I could not be happier with my first "real" recurve.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

okay, folks. Here goes...

I am new to this whole thing/sport/obsession/way of life. I started playing with a bow again after 35 years, because of my 9 y/o grandson, since Christmas.

As it were, we have gone from the std kid green bow, which I didn't like, to Kodiak Magnums and Ben Pearsons off Ebay.

I have been looking at the Sage for a while now, because I couldn't quite lock in on that bow for myself. My grandson shoots the KMAG, 45 lb. that bow is a nail driver.

I read Pete Wards review of the Sage, and decided to try it for myself.

I found my nail driver. 45lb, smooth as butter, and fast. I will probably find out this is probably common concerning T/D bows. I don't know.

What I do know is that i am completely in tune with this rig, and could not be happier.

Keep in mind, it is a production bow. I get that. it is exactly what it was meant to be...an entry level bow.

It's a looker, too. the website picture doesn't do it justice. Hey 3R folks...TAKE your own picture!

One other gent who bought this bow said to put moleskin under the limbs to quiet the bow. You betcha. it is rather noisy otherwise.

The riser lines could use a slight, light sanding to make sure there are no sharp edges. There really aren't, but I would like a little less of a squared look , especially at the hand grip.

The bow assembled in no time, and took me maybe 10 minutes to tune to shoot. There are no instructions at all, so be aware of that. The nice folks at Leatherwall or Tradgang are a wealth of info for anything TRAD. I'm sure you would get anything you had to have in the way of info from 3R Customer Service.

Bottom line...this is a solid very smooth shooter you can advance with, or stay with this rig.

It is very fast, and I am very impressed in the confidence I've gained shooting this bow.

I've easily put 200 arrows through this rig since I got it YESTERDAY, and I ordered it over the PAST WEEKEND.

This is NOT a Cadillac. This is an F-250 /2500 Sierra / Silverado / RAM 2500 that's gonna get the job done.

If you decide to buy it, get the FLemish B50 string. I did, and I believe it makes a difference.

Now, all I gotta do is get another set of limbs. THAT's really Cool!

Service & Delivery comments:

I ordered this bow and other things over the weekend.
My order came YESTERDAY!

I don't care who you are. Supply chain management at this level is second to none. Phenomenal response, 3 Rivers Folks. Your Materials Management folks could give lessons, and this is something I have a bit of knowledge about. Without a doubt, Very impressive.

I bought this as a cheap take down bow to carry when hiking. I was surprised on how nice it really shoots and handles.

Service & Delivery comments:

Delivery was great. Packaging was pretty bomb proof.
I did have some questions after I received the bow. Both the salesman I bought it from and the guy who answered when I had the tech question were very helpful

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

UPS just delivered this bow an hour ago and all I can say is wow! I really wasn't expecting to be impressed as much as I am now. I read all the positive reviews this bow has received and they are justly deserved. This bow is awesome. It looks great. Mine is a dark olive green and tan with as many as 13 layers of wood making up the riser. The fit and finish is great. A slightly rough spot on the arrow shelf, but the felt arrow rest covers it completely. All in all a spectacular bargain!

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

This is an exellent and inexpensive bow for beggining archers to start and grow in the traditional field. The ability to adjust draw weights simply by buying new saves the new archer some money. It's accurate and durable and it's sure to last for a long time. If not I will just buy another because of how satisfied I am with the product. I've heard of people complaining about the little rough spots on the finish. What do you expect for the money. It's not a custom made bow. What it is though is a excellent inexpensive choice that will allows someone who wants to try the traditional path and provide many years of hard use.

If they say 3 days shipping, THATS WHAT THEY MEAN! My bow was here in 3 days! YOU CAN'T GO WRONG HERE! I'm happy with the bow, and VERY happy with the shipping. WAY TO GO GUYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I had to sand down the limbs to fit them to the riser. This was annoying but for the price I accepted it. It shoots nice and is a great back-up bow for practice. Wood finish is fine but the parts are not designed specifically for each other. It was nice and light and the power description (60lbs) was accurate. Overall, for the price, it was a good purchase. I store this in our holiday home so that I always have a bow to shoot with.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I was looking for a take down recurve and saw this bow. I was very pleased when I got it. I like the finish because it is low gloss. I am not even going to paint it before I hunt with it. Before I shot the bow I used the "Silencer Felt" #3571 and put it under the string at the limb tip and under the limbs where they join the bow. One package covered both. I installed arrow rest #3572 and string silencers #4251-4. I am shooting fairly light (420gr) carbon arrows out of it and it is QUIET with the above items installed. You can not beet this bow for the money. I wanted a second set of limbs and decided that I could just get a second bow for the price.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

This bow surprised me when it arrived. Really pretty in my opinion for the price. I wanted something i didn't mind getting wet. Got the 60# for bowfishing and target practice. The inserts make it easy to add a quiver or fishing reel. Eventually want to take up hunting with it and i think it would be great. Highly recommend to beginners, bowfishers, and as a backup. Definately won't break the bank!

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I'm a beginner archer, this is the first bow I've ever bought, but so far its a great bow for the money. Handles well, easy to take down, and draws easily. I got it mainly because I love recurved bows, and the price, but also it came in a lighter draw weight for ladies. And for a 35# bow it has a lot of power and has been really accurate.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I decided to purchase an inexpensive bow while staying in s.c. Received the bow in about 3 days pleasantly surprised at quality, a few imperfections in finish. Put the bow together and visitd local archery club. As I am a recently converted wheel shooter the bow shot up to my ability. Found it to be smooth.fairly quiet and as fast as most of the much more expensive ones that the guys I shot with. Two wheel shooters indicated that they would propably order one especially after I told them the price.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I purchased the Sage as a gift for my 14-year old son. He'd not expressed interest in archery, but I was pretty sure he would be hooked right away. Since a parent can't ever been 100% certain what a child will like or dislike on any given day, I wanted a relatively inexpensive "beginner" bow... but I didn't want a "cheap" bow. The Sage has been perfect. It shoots great and has been durable. As an added bonus, it's a great looking bow. I highly recommend this product.

This is now my back up bow and practice bow. Its easy to assemble and take down. I will be using it for a hunting trip in late nov.early dec.for elk .The finish could be a little more refined as it is rough in spots, but it wont effect the end results and that is its a good shooting bow and not bad looking either.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

The sage bow is the best bargin that I have seen in a long time. The bow has an easy draw and does not stack. The wood is fantastic but finish is a little less but not distracting . I marked down the bow 1/2 a point for finish but it makes up for it in all other areas. I do alot of hunting and 3D shoots. I can not tell any diference in utility compared to my [$] Bow. The bow was easy to tune. The riser fit to the bow limbs was a little loose but mole skin did the trick. But that is used on all my takedowns.

This bow is inexpensive but not cheap. Beautiful wood and lines. The only reason it doesn't score perfect is because the riser has some minor imperfections in the final sanding.

I wanted a lighter bow than my 65# recurve, the better to work on my technique. Bought this bow at 40# (45# for my draw) Very nice. Smooth draw, nice big sight window for my barebow shooting. Installed a B50 Flemish String (Kept the one that comes with it as a backup) and a Bear Hair Rest & Plate (Item Number: 3572) Very nice setup. Much easier to carry around this take-down than my recurve.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

I purchased this bow because I did not have a take-down and could not pass on the price. After a quick application of a velcro plate and shelf and adjustment of brace height, I was surprised on the great accuracy I achieved from the first shot. Although cosmetics of the riser could be improved by more detailed sanding, this does not affect the functionality in the least. This is a terrific bargain and a steal at the price. My shooting buddy was so impressed, he repeatedly praised this bow and is planning on getting his own. The shelf is cut to center or more and I am able to shoot accurately using arrows spined at 55-60 #s @ 20 yds. and I bought the 45# model.

Comments about Sage No Tools Take-Down Recurve Bow:

You are getting more for your money in this bow. It may not be your main squeeze, but at this price you can afford to have an adequate back-up bow, or loaner, or get somebody else in to Archery. It would be great if they would offer accessory long bow limbs, and extra weight limbs for this bow. At this price it would be affordable to offer as a club prize. This bow comes with all the inserts (plunger, quiver, bow reel). "What a Deal". It would be a good idea to order a flemish string to fit this bow and use the string that comes with it as a backup.
