This U-Finish Hickory Bow Blank is perfect for bow builders who like putting the final touches on their very own bow. The form is roughed out for you. You decide the final look and design of your bow!

Most of the work is done for you. All you need to do is shape the handle and arrow rest.

Features an all hickory bow blank with a laminated hickory riser block. The center line is drawn on the riser, making it easier for you to decide where to cut the shelf. A right handed shelf is drawn on the riser, but you can cut for left handed if you wish.

Please note, when the bows are sanded they tend to lose a few pounds in draw weight. With that in mind, the manufacturer made these bow blanks slightly heavier than marked.

Once you have the bow shaped to your liking, you can add a leather grip, arrow rest and plate, or anything else you want. This is a bow made by you, for you!

It is recommended that you seal your bow after you've finished it. We suggest Spray Polyurethane Bow Finish.

Comes with complete instructions and a bow string. Click here to download the instructions.

Sold in weights of 35-40#, 40-45#, 45-50#, or 50-55#, at 28", please specify. Approximately 66" string groove-to-string groove.

    Recommended Tools
  • Hand saw, hacksaw or bandsaw to cut the arrow shelf
  • Flat/ half round wood rasp or a belt sander to shape the handle
  • 5/32" round chainsaw file to widen and smooth the nock grooves
  • Various grits of sandpaper to smooth and finish the bow

Bow stringer not included. A bow stringer is recommended for stringing any recurve bow or longbow. Stringing a bow without a bow stringer, or stringing it backwards will void a bow's warranty.

Remember that with a traditional bow the weight will change depending your draw length. Bow weight will change approximately ±2½ pounds for every inch from a bows rated draw length. So, a bow rated 35# @ 28" is roughly a 32½# @ 27" or 37½# @ 29". Draw weight is marked at the nearest 5# increment to actual weight, (2#'s under and 3#'s over). This is an industry wide standard.

It is recommended to unstring your self bow when you are done shooting, and only string it right before shooting. Store your bow on its side, or hanging vertically from a peg. Never rest the bow on the lower tip for extended periods of time. Never dry fire the bow (shooting without an arrow).
