If you'd like a quality primitive bow that's ready to shoot, Rudderbows Bamboo Backed Hickory bow is the answer. Bamboo backing with strong Hickory belly. Hickory has always been an exceptional bow wood, and when you add the Bamboo backing you get a durable long-lasting bow that will perform faithfully for you. Each Bamboo backed Hickory bows are fully tillered, stained, sealed, and ready to shoot. The handle section is wrapped in leather and, since you shoot off your knuckle, they can be shot either right or left handed. Bows are approx. 68" with a full one-year warranty. String included. Designed with a stable, mild deflex (this means the limbs gently arc toward the archer when unstrung). Early in his career Howard Hill shot Bamboo bows that carried this same kind of dependable deflex shape. The deflexed bow is not meant to be a speed demon. It's smooth, reliable and shoots a heavy hunting arrow consistently shot after shot.

Remember that with a traditional bow the weight will change depending upon what your draw length is. Bow weight will change approximately ±2½ pounds for every inch from a bows rated draw length. So a bow rated 45# @ 28" bow is roughly a 42½# @ 27" or 48½# @ 29". Draw weight is marked at the nearest 5# increment to actual weight, (2#'s under and 3#'s over). This is an industry wide standard.
Bow stringer not included. A bow stringer is recommended for stringing any recurve bow or longbow. Stringing a bow without a bow stringer, or stringing it backwards will void a bow's warranty. Click here to see our Bow Stringers. It is recommended to unstring your primitive bow when you are done shooting, and only string it right before shooting. Store your bow on its side, or hanging vertically from a peg. Never rest the bow on the lower tip for extended periods of time. Never dry fire the bow (shooting without an arrow).
