What I first noticed when I took these arrows out of the box was that the nocks on the arrows that I received, and they very well maybe mounted differently in other lots, was that the nocks were not: 1. Consistently set on the end of the shaft. 2. On some of the 12, set is such a way that one of the fletchings on the bow side come into full contact with the bow flank as the arrow passes in flight. I have 4 sets of 12 arrows, each by a different craftsperson, and arrow per arrow, these are the least accurate. They are the least accurate because of the way the fletchings come into contact with the flank of the bow upon release. I shoot a longbow, and I have been shooting longbows for over 30 years. No arrow shelf on what I shoot, just my hand and a very nice stick basically. Yes, I could remove and replace all the nocks on each shaft, but looking at the way they are fletched, I am not all that sure it would change that much. I would have to replace all the fletchings to replace them on the shafts. Either the top fletch, or the bottom fletch comes into contact with the flank of the bow too much, springing the rear of the arrow outward and to the left, causing the shaft to "wabble" more than other arrows in flight. I have shot this arrow in sets of 4 with 3 other wood arrows that were each fletched by different fletchers. Of the four, this arrow is the least stable in flight. It is also the most brittle at the neck. I am not shooting a bow that is all that strong. It is a 45#'er. If for any reason my shot is off, and the arrow strikes something other than my target, the tip will snap, guaranteed. I have a set of 12 from a different craftsman. Arrow for arrow, and I shoot everyday, one of his has never broken.

Comments about Tred Barta Wilderness Arrows:

I have been using the Tred Barta no-frills arrows for some time and it is very clear to me that they are extremely tough, well made and adapted to a wide range of an archer's needs. When I started shooting them during eastern Canadian winter on the Club's forested range with snowshoes tied on, I lost a few to the elements and the white fletching did not help with recovery. However, a fellow archer brought all my lost arrows back in early spring at the time of our annual shoot, and all arrows were still straight with varnish intact, after some time (weeks?) being lost in the snow banks. Since then, I have been those arrows and my shooting has commendably improved, and I keep getting better result with the same arrows ordered 2-3 years ago. I note in particular the arrows forgiveness in accommodating various point weights and arrow weights over time (I have found that the heavy 190 field points work fine in terms of accuracy, event if bow poundage is low and the arrow is slow -- this is good practice for hunting with primitive/no glass tackle as is my case. Bottom line: I would strongly recommend the Tred Barta arrows and I will be buying more in the future. Fletching could be expanded (length etc) in order to stabilize the arrow even more quickly. Great product!

              Service and delivery comments:

Great service from 3 rivers as usual - flawless execution for tapering and fast delivery.

Comments about Tred Barta Wilderness Arrows:

The Barta Wilderness Arrows look amazing and fly great from my 50# longbow. I've been shooting very tight groups with them. My only problem with them is the fletching, it starts to wear down more quickly than other fletching. With that being said, these arrows are great.

Comments about Tred Barta Wilderness Arrows:

I purchased the arrows and shoot them off of a 55# longbow for target archery with the SCA. These arrows not only look good, but are straight and true. Best purchase of arrows I have ever made, well worth the price and very sturdy for a wood arrow. If you are into fully traditional archery and like a few of the more modern amenities of today, I think these arrows fit that ideally with modern knocks well fitted and glued fletching. The arrows spins in a rifling action and is the most accurate arrow I have shot over my years. I would highly recommend these arrows to any archer with some experience. Being wood I would reserve the idea of a beginning shooter. In short Outstanding.

Comments about Tred Barta Wilderness Arrows:

The arrows themselves are great, they go great with my Deer Master recurve and they are easy to fix up when they break, which thankfully isn't that often. The only problem was that they didn't tell me what size they were at the time, I had to look a bit to find it. I finally found it on Questions, but peole shouldn,t have to root around to find out something basic like that. Which is why I like the new format for the 3Rivers Archery catalog mutch better.
