These are my first set of wood arrows. I have been shooting for quite some time and of course started at alum. then migrated to carbon but although I have always shot a trad. bow (recurve,longbow, and stick) the arrow never mattered as long as it did its job. I ordered two of your test kits because it seems that no matter what spine, weight, or length (with some extent) as long as I do my part, the arrow goes where I want it to. That being said I do like these arrows and since I shoot mostly 3D, backyard, and "hey buddy I bet you a dollar on best group at 125 yards in the pasture" shoots, I have been pleased with flight, looks, consistancy, and overall speed. I have these arrows fitted with everything from barta blunts, bunny busters, zwickeys and field points and they fly well (penetration is excellent also) my only fault with them is their strength, and that could also come from the fact that I have only shot Alum. and carbons which are really tough for my abuse. Other than that I have been greatly pleased.

I'll stick with Carbons

I believe 3Rivers works hard to provide the best traditional supplies for us, but that job gets harder when it comes to wooden arrows.
MY FAULT, I was under the impression that 35-40,50-55, etc. related to the pounds of draw on my bow. By the time I paper tuned a 50-55 fletched shaft to my 46#@28" bow (of which I draw 25 1/2") there wasnt enough shaft to mount a broadhead to. I'm guessing that a 55-60 would have worked, but I'm not confident enough to make an even more investment, by buying another kit. I DO NOT BLAME 3RIVERS, this was an error on my part due to my ignorance. Before you order something, make sure you know what things mean and know what you are buying.

This a a very useful product for getting the correct spine for ones bow.

My only complaint is if you break one or two of the arrows you have to order the whole test kit again and are not allowed to just buy a couple more to replace the ones that are broken.

                I'm using this product for what it was intended. To find the best arrow spine for best accuracy for each bow I make based on draw weight.
                My only complaint regarding the kit/s is that the fletching colors are not based on draw weight. Infact the colors are based on lightest spine to heaviest spine. I know there are more than 4 colors of fletching and if yellow is for 45/50 in one kit, it should be the same in all kits so all test arrows can be stored together without confusion. Each arrow wouldn't need to be identified for intended draw weight this way.

                    I ordered the test kit after months of practice on 3RA Hunter's arrows bought to "rule of thumb" arrow spine for a 125 grain point weight and my 55# bow. I used the test kit to determine optimum spine for 125 and 160 grain points, and I quickly determined which spine arrows flew consistently straight, and which arrows tended to "fishtail." Using these results, I was able to order custom-finished arrows from 3RA for my upcoming elk hunt. The arrows in the test kit were consistent within the various spines and were as well made as the Hunter's arrows. I would recommend this kit to anyone wanting to fine tune spine weight for a given bow or point weight.

                        The arrows are great. the only thing that was an issue, and hence the 4 star rating, is that though I purchased kit A, which are all supposed to be 11/32, the lightest spined arrows were definitely smaller than the other arrows and did not fit properly in an 11/32 taper tool, and wobbled because of this. 5/16 was actually a bit too big for the lightest arrows! But the fletching seems to be on proper 120 degree offset, and everything semmes to be fine.
