  • Q:

How much weight is lost when cutting the alaskan shafts down one inch?
Asked on 8/18/2012 by Ric from New Boston, MI

      A:

It will vary from shaft to shaft. Since they are a tapered there is no steady GPI.

Nocks for these are way to narrow for my longbow string...fly great, but can't keep the nocks on. Is there a wide-mouth nock which will fit the Sitka?

We do not have any products that will allow you to use a different nock with the Grizzly Sticks.

  • Q:

How strait are these? I've read that you need to put the stiff side of the shaft towards the riser. would this make them more difficult to tune than other carbons, such as CE heritage shafts?
    Asked on 2/28/2011 by Anonymous

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Yes, and no. You will need to find the stiff side of the shaft. There is a spot where the carbon layers will overlap and cause a stiff side. This is no different than finding the flat of the grain on a wood shaft. It is the same principle.

what's the static spine for the safari's at 28 1/2"?
    Asked on 2/15/2011 by Anonymous

      A:

I do not have any information as to the static spine of this shaft. I know that it can be stiffer or weaker at different points in the shaft.

  • Q:

With the tapered end, will these arrows still fletch easily on Jo Jan or Bitzenburger style fletchers?
    Asked on 2/5/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

Yes, you should not have a problem fletching them. You just need to watch more carefully to make sure that the feather is all the way against the shaft.

  • Q:

so what shaft would you recommend for finishing out around 600 total grains at 29 3/4" with a 125 grain broadhead?
    Asked on 1/16/2011 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The weights given are for full length shafts. Since they are a tapered shaft and they are not all necessarily the same weight, it makes it hard to judge just how much weight you are cutting off when you trim them. They come full length at 32" or slightly longer. I think the Sitka's will be slightly lighter than what you want and the Alaskan's will be slightly heavier.

  • Q:

Are these shafts able to be cut to whatever length you need to due to the full taper design or is only the very front of the shaft large enough to accept the inserts
Asked on 12/30/2010 by tradbow from Swartz,LA

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

I know if you cut off from the nock end you will get to a point when the nock wont fit any more. I know at least the front 6" of the ID (inside diameter) GrizzlyStik is parallel so to fit the insert the same. After that, I am not sure where it starts to change. Maybe at 10".

  • Q:

what's the gpi for these, or the weight of just the shaft at 29 3/4 inches? are these compatible with weight tubes?
    Asked on 12/15/2010 by Anonymous

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

GrizzlyStik carbon arrows do not have a set gpi as they are a full tapered design. So they are heavier up front than by the nock end. I can not say on the weight at 29 3/4" as the shafts vary from batch to batch. Each 6-pack are matched to within 10 grains of each other, but the next 6-pack in the same spine could be 50+ grains heavier or lighter. GrizzlyStik carbon arrows do not work with 3R weight tubes do to the taper design.
