  • Q:

I have some 35/55 GT shafts that work well. Would the 500's be the best choice in the Traditional Only series? Current shafts, GT's, are cut 28 BOP.

      Hello!
Without knowing your bows actual peak weight, I would hate to tell you the wrong thing! I know how frustrating it can be to get some new arrows, cut them, fletch them, & shoot them, only to find out they are not perfect.
I find the best way to find the best arrows to match to your bow is to try some arrows of different spines. Or, try the 3Rivers Archery Arrow Test Kit, It is worth its weight in gold. It will ensure you get the best performance from your bow & arrows.

The 500 is the same spin has the 35-55. So they will work just fine.

  • Q:

I just purchased a dozen 500 shafts to build arrows for my new longbow and would like to put an aluminum footing on a few of them for stump shooting. A 2117 aluminum shaft is a little too large in diameter for the 500 Trad Only shaft. What size aluminum shaft do I need for a good footing fit?

The 2117 is going to give you the best fit. None of them will fit perfectly.

  • Q:

What is the exact OD of the 600 & 500 spine shafts. Thanks.

      A:

The exact OD's of the 600 and 500 are .275 and .292 respectively. The 600 can use a 5/16 or 9/32 point depending on the insert. The 500 will need a 5/16 point.

  • Q:

I recently purchased replacement arrows item id 6781-3 Traditional Only 400 9.1 gpi and they are identical but shorter than my other arrows by .75 inch. My prior purchase was same item number. Why are the new arrows different?

      A:

The specs for the Traditional Only 400 shaft from Easton is that no shaft should be less than 31.5" in length. In the past Easton has manufactured this shaft at 32" and 32.25" in length. This happens with other Easton shafts as well that at times that shafts come in longer than their "specified length". Not completely sure why they do this but what you have is shafts there were made longer than specs the first time and the second shafts are cut to specified length which would be the reason why you would receive shafts at two different lengths.

  • Q:

It appears due the slickness of these shafts that a wrap is required in order for proper feather adhesion when using the various types of fletching glues. Has anyone tried to use the bohing feather fletching tape applied directly to the shaft instead. If so what are the results good or are wraps still required?

      A:

The feather tape has the same issues as the glue when adhering the feather to the shaft. you can scuff up the shaft with some light sand paper to help glue or tape to stick better but a cap wrap is much faster and holds better.

I have done my bareshaft spine testing with Gold Tip XT hunter 5575 arrows, will these arrows with the same deflection rating behave simalarily or would i have to start over? thanks

      A:

According to the Gold Tip web site the 5575 is a .400" spine. You would fall right in line with the 400 spine Traditional Only carbon shafting. The switch should be same results. If not, they should not be far off.

  • Q:

Why do the product specs for these arrows say they come installed with Easton (Beman, actually, according to the package of nocks I just recieved) "S" nocks when they, in fact, come installed with Easton "Super" nocks? Will the two be interchangeable without difficulty, or did I order the wrong nocks as spares because of this?

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The Easton "S" nocks or the Easton Super nocks will both fit these arrows with out any problems.
