  • Q:

I need to replace a fletching...Do they use right wing or left wing feathers?

The Hunter Arrows are fletched with Left Wing feathers.

      A:

I would recommend that you check your arrow to see what was used. Sight
along the shaft of the arrow with the point away from you. Position one
feather at 12:00. Look at the base of the feather, where it attaches to the
shaft. The vane (vertical part) attaches to the base at a "L" with a right
wing pointing the left and a left wing pointing to the right. A useful
trick I heard is to make your thumb and index finger into an "L". The index
finger is the vane, and the thumb sticking out to the side is the base.
Matching up the hand position with the feather will tell you which wing the
feather is.. right hand matches right wing... left matched left. Hope this
      helps. Doc

  • Q:

Do the arrows come with inserts?
    Asked on 3/16/2014 by penguin27

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

These are wood arrows and do not use inserts. They come full length uncut. The arrows need to be cut to length, tapered, and have points mounted to them.

  • Q:

Are the mounted field points easily removed and replaced with another point?
Asked on 2/19/2014 by Addison from United States

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

To remove the point, it must be heated first. Then you will need to add some glue to the shaft and put the new point on. It's pretty easy to do.

  • Q:

I do not see a comment section when placing my order, where do I specify the fletching color? I want them all the same...

    Thank you.

      A:

When ordering these arrows, you have the option of selecting Red, White, Yellow, or Lime for the two hen feathers, (the third feather is a traditional barred feather with no choices available). Once you make your choice, all arrows will be identical to each other. If you are wanting all three feathers to be the same color, you would have to do a custom fletch. Once you check out, there is a section to place special instructions or comments. This is located where you enter your credit card information.

If there is not a place to specify fletching color what I have done in the past is place the order and follow up with a phone call to their customer service to specify color (I too have a preference for pre-made arrow fletching color). Hope this helps.

      A:

In the web page's instruction on how to make wood arrows, they recommend
Port Orford Cedar as being the best wood. I would therefore assume that is
the material used by the company. As you have probably noticed, they don't
tell you in the product description. Al

  • Q:

One of the drop down box options is the following: "Service - Cut & Taper Shafting:"

Does this mean the shafts will be cut to size and the ends tapered? When the shafts are cut, are they cut to the size we select or do you add 1" for the taper?
    Asked on 9/15/2013 by Seth

    1 answer

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

The length is defined as being "from the valley of the nock to the back of the point". You do not need to add for the length of the taper.

  • Q:

What type of glue is used when you order arrows with points installed? Wondering if it will hot melt or something similar so I could swap out points later.

    • Staff Reviewer

      A:

For wood arrows we use a heat-reversible point glue. You will be able to heat the point and remove if you want to change points out after receiving the arrows.

  • Q:

I've been shooting my recurve for 11 years with old easton xx75, 2113, that are 29 inches long, with 6 inch hand cut helical feathers, shooting it out of a 50 lb bow. These arrows shoot great out of my bow, but I'd like to shoot something more "traditional." What do you recommend??

How traditional do you want to go? I shoot regularly in a Renaissance Festival "Robin Hood" style competition. No sights.. No releases.. Wood shaft arrows with feather fletching. Three Rivers sell a wood arrow that is tailored to your draw weight. I would recommend getting an arrow that is rated at a bit heavier than your current draw weight.. At least 55#. The wood shafts will warp so learning to bend them back to straight. You might want to experiment with different arrows to see how they fly. When in doubt, go higher rather than lower.

If you're buying the pre-packaged cedar hunters arrows, simply write which color you want in the comments section for the order. (I believe the choices are red, yellow, lime, or white)
