There is a section while you are checking out that asks for special requests or instructions. Please put your colour requests there.

If you're buying the pre-packaged cedar hunters arrows, simply write which color you want in the comments section for the order. (I believe the choices are red, yellow, lime, or white)

We will need to know your personal draw length before recommending an arrow. Give us a call at 1-866-587-9501 and we will help you determine which spine you need.

I can help you with the target arrows. The questions you ask are really dependent on your physical dynamics. Let's take the easier of the two, what length? What is your draw length? For target arrows (e.g. field points) I like to add 1" to my draw length. Your other question is a little more complex. The spline weight of your wooden shafts depends on a few factors. Your draw length and your draw weight (what you're really pulling) Your bow may be 65#, but you may be pulling more or less. The only way to know your draw weight is to use a hand held bow scale to get a base reading. Your draw length also comes into play. Bows are rated as some poundage @28". For example, you're bow is rated as 65# at 28". For every 1" of draw length (+ or -) you need to adjust your spline weight by 1 1/2 pounds in the same directions. For example, if your draw length is 28" then your spline weight should be 65 pounds. If your draw weight is 29", your spline weight should be 66 1/2 pounds. If your draw length is 27", then your spline weight should be 63 1/2 pounds. Wooden shafts are normally sold is 5 pound variances. Such as 60-65 pounds or 65-70 pounds. 3Rivers has a nice chart on their web site and in their catalog that has bow weights and draw lengths that could help you select the proper spline weight.
      Hope this helps.

I simply use the shaft selection chart on the 3rivers website. Make sure to use the one for wood arrows. Just select your point weight, bow poundage, and arrow length (determined by your draw length). That will tell you what spine to order. It's always worked for me. I shoot the 3rivers hunter wood arrows, and they shoot very nicely.
      Best of luck.

  • Q:

I have recently changed from shooting right handed to left handed and find it much easier shooting since my dominant eye is my left eye and can align the bow string with the arrow shaft to the target. My question is "does shooting right or left handed have anything to do with the way the spines on the hunter arrows should rotate to ensure the arrow rotates towards center shot?" My guess is no as when I bought the hunter arrows there was no indication of whether they were to be shot left or right handed. Just curious. Thanks.

No, I have never heard of an arrow designed for left hand shooters, and i can not imagine there being a significant differance in flight or accuracy if there was one developed.

The arrow will not start spinning until it is at least a few feet in front of the bow. It will not matter if you use RW or LW feathers.

It really is hard to tell, without trying first. Every bow, every archer is
different. In general I need a 5 lb. stiffer arrow than the bow weight.
Sometimes even 10 lbs. stiffer. You should be able to use 45-50, just don't
cut too short till you test them.

It will depend on the draw length and the point weight as well as the bow. We will need some more information before we would be able to suggest an arrow size.

I just purchased these arrows and they do not have tips you will need to purchase the tips you want and you will also have to cut the arrows to your draw length , shave the points down and glue the tips on. Three rivers has a video on there site explaining the procedures and additional materials you will need. Hope this helps.

The Hunter's arrows come without points. You have to have the arrows cut
and tapered and then install glue-on points, whether they be field points
or broadheads. You can also install glue on inserts which allow you to
use screw-on field points and broadheads, but that can increase the weight
of the tip by an unfavorable amount. The Zwickey single bevel broadheads
are a good choice for glue-on broadheads.

      A:

They do not come with any point or head.
Nor are they already tapered to accept a point.

You will want to buy a tapering tool (its a glorified pencil sharpener. I just trim them carefully with a knife) and the points you want
You will also need some adhesive to stick the points on  3 rivers sells sticks of ferruletight, which is just the right thing to use, though I suppose you could make do with some other glue or epoxy..
