Michelle's 2006 Mule Deer

Fall 2006

If you've been around Dale and the topic of mule deer hunting comes up, he's going to mention long time friend, bowyer, and mule deer expert, Dick Boss. No, that's not Dick with this nice Mule deer buck, it's Dick's daughter Michelle. Michelle was hunting a treestand in Colorado with a take-down longbow made for her by her dad. When this buck passed at about 20 yeards she zipped an arrow tipped with an old Bear greenhead right through the boiler room.

Her dad tells us it should score between 155 and 160! Congratulations Michelle on your first Pope and Young mule deer.

Brent Swanson

September 2006

Brent Swanson is a die-hard bowhunter with a fascination for mule deer. He's taken another nice one here! Here's the story according to Brent:

"Here's a photo of my 2006 Wyoming Mule Deer. I shot it with a 75 lb Stotler longbow and Howard Hill heads. Still in velvet when I got him on Sept 20th. I was headed back to camp around noon and spotted him bedded in the shade below a rocky cliff. I circled around and got right above him when he jumped up and ran a short distance. Then he slowly walked back toward me. He headed toward camp after the shot and dropped on a ridge overlooking camp."

Great story, thanks Brent!

Mark Nelson

Here's a photo of traditional bowhunter Mark Nelson with his 2006 Wyoming Mule Deer. Mark spotted the big buck bedded under a rock ledge and circled above. The shot was 15 yards with a 70# Bighorn Recurve bow and old Bear razorhead broadheads.. The velvet was shed on brush as the Buck rolled down the hill. P+Y 166 4/8. Marks biggest buck to date. He also took a buck antelope and a bull elk last year with his bow!

Congratulations Mark!
