I bought this bow to be a back packing hiking and camping take down bow thinking it would be a mediocre performer but back packable....what I got was a very high performing, wicked fast, quality recurve that I wouldn't take down once set up. It is more tedious to put together than I would like for a takedown, but it is one heaven of a bow. I got a couple of Bear Minutemen Takedowns for back packing instead and use the Martin Diablo as my main recurve. You get way more value for this bow than the cost. Yes as one reviewer mentioned the edges of the limbs could be finished better, but the overall performance of the bow is aces and well over shadows that oversight.

I am relatively new to recurve archery, but spend up to a couple hours a day shooting during study breaks. I also own a Martin Sabre, so I was already impressed with the performance of martin take-downs (though I don't care for take-down aspect). The first day with my Diablo was like Christmas! Shot very steady, easy pull, and packed a wallop. After several days the string began settling outside the grooves. It got worse and worse until I ultimately had to return the bow. I had similar issues with the Sabre, though the limbs eventually settled in with no reoccurring issues. Fussing with tuning, new strings, and having to eat the shipping costs to return the defective product was enough to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I still believe it is a good bow, especially for the price, but not enough for me to risk the Charlie Foxtrot I experienced again.

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

Feel like I just wasted over $300. Top limb attarched fine, although assembly is pretty annoying and overcomplicated. The bottom limb would not attach, due to the screw holes and retaining nut not aligning, out of the box had to do modifications in order to try and make everything align, I am still unable to properly align the screw and nut with the limb, so basically this bow is a $299 paper weight. Not 3Rivers fault, they shipped quickly and it arrived on time, but very poor product control on Martins part. Cant recommend it off my experience.

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

I bought this because i had a recurve as a young boy. i shot compounds for a lot of years and wanted to go back to simplicity. its a very light bow and the draw would fool you. it draws easy but the arrows leave very fast and hit with a good thud. i love it so far. i dont see anything wrong construction wise. i wont take it down though. too many little pieces to lose for my ownself. but it went together nice and tight. the stringer it came with serves its purpose good. stick to a flipper rest though. it throws the accuracy of a bit. not saying its a bad combo, i think there are people who can shoot with one. i cant... good bow. very good bow. i hope to see it last me a long time.

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

This bow is a great value. The Panther is accurate, hits very hard and is very, very fast for a recurve. I bought the 55lb model. This bow has a very smooth draw and really shines with a magnetic rest and a fast flight string. Real easy to tune and very accurate. Powerful enough for all big game hunting in North America.

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

A very weird and difficult takedown bow to assemble, would not recomend taking it down once its put together! A awesome and accurate design,so coffident im gonna get a black bear this year. I would be comfortable paying more for it if it had a better rest, no big deal though most people will change that out anyway! String is a good string, i dont use ff strings so it comes with a string i would have bought anyway! The limbs are a bit weird but martin offers a year warrenty. A very nice a sweet looking bow,it would be great for everyone from beginner to advanved archers! Can be made better by the owner if you put some money into it. A very nice and accurate bow!

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

I bought this bow almost a year ago. Being new to archery the price brought me to this bow in comparison to others. I wanted a bow that would take down and fit into a smaller package. I had the same problem with the limb bending to the left so the string wasn't setting in the groove the correct way. Thinking I had a defective bow I started doing my homework. by simply holding the tip of the bow(while strung) and applying a counter twist, you will find that it will simply start to line up right. you may have to do it a couple of times. but for myself its been straight on ever since. i couldn't be happier with this bow. its strong and fast shooting, and extremely accurate wouldn't trade this bow for anything. hope this may help people thinking of getting this bow, who and have those concerns. you simply cant beat this bow for the price.

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

I bought this bow because I wanted a hybrid between barebow (traditional is misleading) and modern equipped hunting tool. So I bought the Panther. I shoot it with a glove a whisker bisquit a hindsight and trophy ridge firewire 5 pin sight. It is a wonderful shooing accurately out to 50 yards. Its still in the experimental stage but it may be my hunting weapon of choice.

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

I was going to buy a Hoyt, but I went with the Martin because I was familiar with them, and the cost was about 1/3 that of the Hoyt. Good choice. This bow is FAST, powerful, and very forgiving. This was my first TD recurve, and it is simple.

If you are in the market for a great bow, but do not want to spend a small fortune, this is it...no need to look further.

Smooth, quiet (with the right sting) and accurate. I have put about 2000 arrows through this bow with no problems. I perfer a plunger and magnetic rest which really made this bow perform well. Couldn't be happier with this product.

Awesome bow! Fun to shoot, accurate, fast and powerful. All around good bow. Haven't had any issues. The only thing I would say is for a takedown it takes a little more time to assemble. Other than that it's great.

Comments about Martin Panther 62" Takedown Recurve Bow:

I bought this bow as an alternative to the single-piece wood bows I have grown so used to. My choice was between the Diablo or a Hoyt Gamemaster and I'm very happy that I went with Martin. This bow is wicked fast and highly accurate. There is a noticeable amount of hand shock, but it's not enough to write the bow off as a pleasant shooter. After a minor bit of tuning, I was able to get my groups consistently in the 9's and after only a week or so with it, I increased my average score on a 300 by 30 points.I could go on and on about the amazing things about this bow, but those have been well covered in other reviews. The voice print did bother me when I first bought the bow, but getting heavier arrows and a couple string silencers and it's as quiet as anything else. This bow is so wonderful that I would have been comfortable paying $[$] more and still bragged about it being a steal.
