African hunting novel at its best

By G B

from Leesburg ,Va

Comments about The Sound of the String, An African Bush Country Novel:

If you've ever wanted to hunt Africa without the price tag, this novel will bring all the excitment minus the usual "how-to".
Isham puts you right in the blind,or "hide"as they call it,and can have you reconsidering your belief that you are at the top of the food chain.
Throw in a little romantic intrigue and you have a great read.

A Very Impressive Novel !!

By KC

from Idaho

Comments about The Sound of the String, An African Bush Country Novel:

When this book ends the stories Hero, Gordon Bradford {very cool name BTW}, leaves Africa with much more than hides, horns and memories.
As the story evolves over more than a few seasons the characters lives are brought out perfectly chapter by chapter. You will get that the author is passionate about Africa, its people, animals and land. Sometimes to really live you need to risk your life other times you risk your life to live. Those stories are in Sound of the String.

Comments about The Sound of the String, An African Bush Country Novel:

First off, I got the sample copy from the author to read for 3Rivers Archery to see about carrying the book for sale. It was a YES about a quarter into the book.

I read the book over a few weeks, but in big sections at each time. I was not able to find extended periods of time to read, so it took longer than normal to read this book. It was hard to put down. The chapters are short most of the time, so makes it easy to say "just one more."

The author described the characters in good detail and really had me "right there" with them as the story unfolded. Very easy to follow along, and as it is a fictional story instead of real hunting experiences you get a lot more excitement and desire to read. Like no other hunting book I have read.

Really enjoyed it, and HIGHLY recommend it as a gift idea for a bowhunter.
