A fun change from traditional archery

    The samburu spear did not disappoint me, although I found it to be a little too long. It didn't seem very practical for a spear to be over a foot longer than the user. I trimmmed it down from 7' to 6'. Shortening the spear length by shortening the handle was easily done. It casts nicely and I am considering a hog hunt with it. The neatest thing is that it reverses for target practice. I use an old 3-D javelina, and halloween rubber rats for practice targets.

    The spear is really cool and we all enjoyed throwing it. The only problem with the spear is that it did not come with screws needed to secure the grip to the spearhead and shoe. Of course when the spear came the boys could not wait to try it "just once". The last one to throw it broke it. We ordered a replacement grip from Cold Steel, the manufacturer of the spear. Hopefully it will come with screws. Other than that, he is pleased with the spear in general.

      I bought one. Major disappointment. That sucker bent the shaft when I threw it at a bloody ground hog in soft dirt. Save your money and buy something else.

      A good spear, the only problem is the wood in the center. To get a new one once you bust it up. All metal parts are fine quality. A serious weapon.
