I own several bracers for use with recurve, long bow, horse bow and compound bows. The large traditional Bear leather lace up arm guard with stretch lacing works well, laces fast but is stiff when you bend your wrist inward and is uncomfortable. The small Neet 6" arm guard is stiff and just that too small for occasional long bow string slap. I have a beautiful studded black leather bracer I bought from a Midievel leather worker. Love it but it hurts the wrist to wear it. The soft padded camo arm guard with elastic bands I found on a hunting outfitters site to use with compound bows gets in the string's way in tradional archery or when I wear cold weather clothing. It is comfy but cannot wear it to an SCA event. This Midievel Archer's brace has softer leather that I was expecting yet offers adequate protection for the wrist and arm. It does take a little more time to get the wrist area adjusted snug without overtightening the arm part but if you are going to wear it for several hours, "Who cares about lace up speed?" Just hold the tab with your teeth while your "free" fingers pull on strings fitting it around your forearm then slide the tab down strings to "lock" position. This is just what I needed for the Medievel appearance yet have adequate protection without bruising a wrist. Just bought another one for my husband.

This a great armguard and I could tell by the photo that I'd like it. However, after I received it I was major disappointed. I think the one I have is built backwards i.e. the soft side (vinyl?) which I think would go inside as a liner is on the outside and the hard shinny smooth surface is on the inside. Since the "lacing holders" (for lack of a better word) are riveted in place it can't be used any other way. I haven't used it yet since I'm afraid a bowstring would rip the vinyl apart in no time. I'm going to try to Dremel the rivets out, place the lacing holders on the smooth hard side as soon as I can find rivets that match the ones that are on it. It will be a lot of work to "retool" this thing, but once done it will be a great armguard.

      I shoot both left and right handed. Most other arm guards take to long to switch back and forth. This one is the fastest I have found. I did get rid of the leather slip holder. I replaced it with a plastic one. It just holds the string better.

          I thought twice before I purchased this bracer. It looked like it would be clumsy to put on. When I received the bracer, the quality was excellent. I studied the bracer and backed the string off to open the bracer to its widest point. I have large forearms. I slid the bracer into position and starting from the hand end, started pulling the string tight at each cross tab until I got to the top. You have to use your teeth to then hold both strings and slide the lock tab into position. Taking it off, just reverse everything. It takes me less than a minute to install and remove the bracer. I shot my bow for an hour without a hitch from the bracer. Great product, thanks for carrying it!

            Bought this for the wife as she was complaining of string slap, and wanted something more traditional-looking than the nylon arm-guard she was using. This bracer fits the bill perfectly and looks great with her leather chest-guard and Ottoman quiver. The colour is a bit lighter than what appears in the photograph but I'm sure it will darken over time, and doesn't really detract from the look. As suggested by another reviewer, we might change the paracord with leather cord at some point.

              This Bracer / Arm Guard has wonderful leather that is a good quality construction. Not only is it something to look at but it's a performer. I've used it a few times since I've purchased it and I 've hit my arm some with the string didn't hardly feel a thing. Plus you couldn't even tell where the string hit the leather. I couldn't be more happier with this purchase.
