I shoot a 60# 76" self-backed yew English longbow, so a good quality bowglove is a must. This is a good replacement for my overused old bowglove, which came all the way from England. It's nice that I can now get an American made bowglove that is equal to my English made glove. As I have big hands, I was a little surprised that the XL size I ordered was slightly loose. Not enough to affect performance though. Most gloves are sized slightly smaller than this (as an ordering tip). Overall, the Hawkwood bowglove gives a smooth release and required no breaking-in or getting used to as a switch from my old Richard Head bowglove. My only criticism is that the glove I got in the mail was a mustard yellow color as opposed to the reddish-brown in the picture. Not my first choice as a leather color.

I got this because I've had Feather's poke into my bow hand index finger. It looks like it will help prevent geting stuck, only time will tell. I think it would have been better if they had sewn the finger wraps inside out so they would have a smother finish, but that's just me.

    Comments about Hawkwood Bowglove:

I got this Bowglove to shoot with my longbows and horsebows. The first time I shot with it I realized that it was poorly maked and was not of good quality material. It ripped apart between the thumb and forefinger. Material was very thin.

    Comments about Hawkwood Bowglove:

I've had one of these for about a year and have mostly used it when shooting a couple horsebows, but shooting Western style. For this it works very well.

If shooting Asian style, in which the arrow rests on your thumb, the coverage is incomplete and if you elevate your thumb for a shot, the fletching may cut your thumb.

Sizing is absurd, no help from support.

      Comments about Hawkwood Bowglove:

Ordered the XL, which turned out to be much much much too large for me. Since there wasn't a sizing chart, I based the glove size on my golf and shooting gloves. With both, I wear an XL for a comfortable fit and an L for skintight. The "XL" Hawkwood Bowglove is much larger than any of the other gloves I've tried. When fastened properly, there's ~1 inch of clearance in the
wrist strap and 1/4-1/2 inch of clearance in each of the fingers. This thing was built for someone with hands like Andre the Giant. Construction seemed comfortable, if thin. Couldn't really tell how well the glove would work, given how ridicuously oversized it was.

      Service and delivery comments:

Devliery was prompt. Product was in an unusable condition. Sent an email to 3Rivers support inquiring about sizing help and exchange policy and received no response.

Good, but finger is too tight

            Comments about Hawkwood Bowglove:

I would be very satisfied with the product if it was not for the index finger being way too tight for me. The hand size is perfectly fine and I followed the glove size chart carefully as instructed. The thumb is a good fit (just loose enough), but I have to force my index finger in and have a lot of trouble to take it off because of it. I actually had to stretch the leather by boiling it and wedging an oiled and taped marker in it while letting dry.

                Comments about Hawkwood Bowglove:

So this is actually a decent piece of leather. Pretty thin and soft though.
So I used it for shooting a korean bow. After having my hand cut open by some low quality fletchings I thought this might be a good buy. So it worked out the next time I shot the protector took some damage, which is good because it means my hand didn't.

So it does work, which is good.

But it feels a bit restrictive and its a bit bulky when you're holding the bow on the inside of the thumb. I feel that the softness of the leather will make it not very durable. Its already showing signs of wear after a few times shooting, just a couple hundred arrows. As a note I still had a fletching jam into my thumb while wearing it, probably my own fault though

Bottom line: good for starting out, might need a more reinforced one

                Comments about Hawkwood Bowglove:

This is a great bow glove for the money. The only problem I have is that the glove is a little tight, but after some sweating and some light wear the glove stretched a little bit more. Now it is a tad more comfortable to wear.
This thing is great! I have two shelfless bows and after digging some 3riversarchery feathers out of my hands on more than one occasion, I decided to get this glove.

                  Comments about Hawkwood Bowglove:

This bow glove is very similar to the one I got in England. Both work quite well, are comfortable and generally "vanish" while roving. Interesting enough, both were about the same price.

Remember to Order for Your BOW Hand (I didn't the first time) i.e. Right handed archers take Left hand gloves, and such. It's a real Duh! thing, but it's an easy mistake to make.

                  Good Design, Good Fit, Recommended.

This is a well made and well designed bow glove that just about disappears in use.

Nice leather that is durable but not too stiff does a good job of protecting your hand when shooting traditional longbows.

Also, cool on a hot day.

Recommended, if not a bit pricey.
