    I'll admit I was worried when I first opened the can--this stuff is THICK, and dries FAST. After pouring into the dip tube, I had trouble wiping the edge of the can with a paint brush, it was setting so fast. I wouldn't recommend this as a lacquer for normal dipping, but for the gasket system it's great. Once it was in the dip tube with the gasket in place, dipping was simple and quick. I put five coats on each of thirty-six arrows in only a couple of hours. These were the first arrows I made myself, and when I showed them to other long-time archers the next day, they all exclaimed about the beautiful finish and wanted to know what I'd used. Also, after three hours of constant target shooting, the finish was unmarred.

    I purchased the pro dippers (large and small) with the speed coat system (EXCELLENT SYSTEM), a guart of clear (BRILLIANT AND EASY TO USE) and a pint of yellow(BLAHHH)!!! The clear with the speed coat is great, I would advise letting crested colors set for a week, but the "yellow" is more of an umber (brownish yellow) that doesn't match my yellow gateway feathers, not even close. I was very disappointed with the yellow and would rather have just stuck with the clear. You can't beat the clear with the speed coat but be wary of the yellow!!!! Haven't tried the white, probably won't......

        I use this product to protect my cresting on my arrows. It will go over Fletch-Laq. as well. I use it on woods, carbons, and alum shafts. It lets me do 3 coats and get to the fletching of my shafts in a few minutes. Only down side is it needs to be warm when applying.

            Comments about Gasket Lacquer Arrow Finish:

            A lot of archers who have been at arrow making for a while get thrown off by the thickness of the lacquer, DON'T. The thickness of the lacquer and the speed it dries in are its best attributes. Using the lacquer without the speed coat system and a pro-dipper (small or large) will be disastrous, so do not use this product if you are unwilling to use those. It dries extremely fast, your first arrow will be ready for another coat by the time you finish the last, but it does require quite a few coats to get a proper seal (still should not take you more than 30min to finish 12). It will need to be thinned so check the consistency BEFORE you dip, i use similar diameter dowels. I find that it has way less "foam burn" than any other sealer.

The learning curve is quick and disappointing if you don't buy the entire system. If you stay with the traditional products you have time to make choices, see what is happening and work with tried and true systems. If you do use this product line good luck!

                      Gasket lacquer is one of the nicest advancements I've seen in arrow building. I've been away from archery for about 15 years so I was used to having to wait forever for lacquer to dry between coats. They aren't kidding, you can literally apply a second coat after only waiting a few minutes. I took my time, but I had a dozen shafts done with three coats in well under an hour.

                        Use with big or little dipper and the speed dipper and you can have 12 shafts coated in 5 minutes. Totally dry in an hour. Nearly fume free if used this way. Keeps the shafts from picking up the neon color from my rhino block target. Be sure and get the correct fletching glue or it will dissolve when you glue them on.
