In the short month since I received my Hoyt Buffalo from Three Rivers, I've done two 3D shoots and scored my first traditional kill ever with a nice spring turkey.

The bow shoots as advertised. Fast, quiet, easy to be accurate ...... It just feels right in the hand.

My bow is the 60", 45#, in wood finish. I find that a brace height of 8.25" works best for me with Beman MFX Classic 500 arrows.

I had been using the Hoyt Dorado (also a fine shooting bow), but find the Buffalo to have a more traditional feel with close to the hand shelf and side plate.

I find no downside to the bow.

Really dissapointed in this purchase. Hoyt can and has done better. Very poor quality machine work on riser. Limb tips were very poorly shaped. The threaded bushing between the dovetail and the limb bolt on the Paralever limbs was loose on both the top and bottom limb resulting a bad and loud vibration or buzz. No way to tighten the bushings up either. 3Rivers service however was excellent as I exchanged this bow for a 17" Dalaa with short limbs. I'm happy with the Dalaa.

Comments about Fred Eichler Signature Series BUFFALO™ Takedown Hoyt Recurve:

Excellent bow, nice and compact, easy to shoot. Read a lot about this bow before buying. Most people's concern is the cost, which I think can be steep, but if you like hoyt products and or the look it's worth it. Comes with everything you need to make it silent, string leech and calf hairs on riser. I would recommend getting a better string than the one it comes with.

One issue with paint on riser, does chip pretty easily from light scratches, not a huge issue but for those that are getting "black out" it maybe good to know.

        Service and delivery comments:

Service was always excellent, recommendations on arrow's for my draw weight were spot on.

Comments about Fred Eichler Signature Series BUFFALO™ Takedown Hoyt Recurve:

This bow is amazing. Before I bought this bow I read a lot of reviews. Those that have owned it love it, and I must say I truly enjoy this bow as well. This bow is expensive but worth every penny. Only regret was getting it so late.

Do note that setting up this bow I wanted to tune it without the string leech and calf hair on the risers, this IS NOT a good way to tune it, better to add these attachments before tuning it, as it can be very loud without these items added on, (all comes with the bow anyways).

          Service and delivery comments:

Exceeded expectations as always. very friendly and knowledgable staff. asked a lot of questions about arrow type and string for this bow and everything suggested worked out great!

Comments about Fred Eichler Signature Series BUFFALO™ Takedown Hoyt Recurve:

I'm not really one for typing up reviews, but I felt the need to do so with this kit.

          Break-down:
          Good-
          Sturdy construction (Weight=Stability).
Ability to adjust tillering & weight.
Included string silencers work relatively well.
Double radiused shelf (Small point of arrow contact).
          Easy no tools take-down.

          Not so good-
Included string is a little loud and seems prone to vibration.
Included string silencers seem like they'll be cut in half by the string.

Having never even touched a Hoyt bow before I knew nothing about their designs so when I had to 'assemble' the Buffalo, I was amazed and skeptical at the same time. The riser feels nice in my hand (maybe a little thin but I'll get used to it). I didn't really care for the stock string that comes with it so I strung it with a 59" Flemish FF+ and it's quite a bit quieter. I adjusted the tiller favoring a 3/16" positive tiller then set the brace height @ 8 1/8" and my groupings have improved quite a bit compared to my Samick Sage(First bow I've ever bought). Another thing I didn't really care for was the shelf rug: it seems a little tall and doesn't completely cover the shelf. I know technically the entire shelf doesn't need to be covered but it's just my preference.

Honestly, if I could, I'd probably buy another...but I'll have to pay the rest of this one off first. Might just settle for buying alternate spare limbs. AMAZING BOW!!

I bought a right-hand riser with 50# limbs--loved it so much I bought a lefty with 45# limbs in maple. I shoot ambidextrously, and this is the first bow I wanted to duplicate for both sides. It's just a wonderful creation, smooth and deadly. Of course I can easily switch the 45 or 50# limbs to either riser. Sweet. My compliments to Fred Eichler and the Hoyt design team.

Comments about Fred Eichler Signature Series BUFFALO™ Takedown Hoyt Recurve:

The first thing I noticed was how smooth this bow is on the draw. Little or no stacking at full draw. My draw length is 29 1/2" and end up with about 52#. I have owned bows up to 55# and this 50# Hoyt Buffalo is faster than any other bow I have. It is a high price to pay for a bow. BUT it is built to last and made the difference for me. Am very satisfied with this bow. And I have been using it exclusively for over a year now.

This makes my second buffalo and I must of bad luck when ordering my 40# because the top limb started to separate after only 50 or so shots. Iv seen ton a of these bows and never have heard of one doing this. 3Rivers and I had come up with that it was just a manufacturer flaw and Hoyt took great care of me and had me a new limb in no time

I bought this bow almost a year ago , and I still love how it shoots and feels in my hands. It does shoot of the shelf and is very accurate. It is really easy to put together and very easy to shoot with a tab and fingers. I see that alot of people are not sure of arrows. I use Victory VAPS 500 throught my 55# .Close to my draw length i get 60# plus but it feels really light.

Twelve arrows in 6" group at 40 yrds. On my first 12 w/this bow!

BTW I very rarely give feedback.
