The first thing I noticed about this armguard is that the metal hooks for the lacing have *sharp* exposed metal on the back. I often times target shoot in a short sleeve shirt and I'm confident that this will cut my arm or at least irritate it. I also suspect it will put holes in my long sleeve camo shirt. I haven't even shot with it yet and I'm already planning on modifying it. I will be attaching 5 quarter sized pieces of leather on the backside to get this to where I feel like it is usable. What were they thinking....

Well I got more then expected with this bad boy, covers a lot of my arm and is really easy to put on. It has room to put it over a heavy jacket or you can tighten it up and go bare skin. Super thick leather, I let my friend hit it with a belt and I barely felt a thing. The arm guard is also thin enough that it doesn't feel awkward to have I on your arm. The price wasn't to bad, and looks like a new school product, but keeps the medieval look at the same time. Me wearing this makes me feel legit and I seem to shoot better when I'm not scared about getting a big bruise. The only bad thing I can say a out it is that the top of the arm guard is missing one "loop" but it doesn't affect it much. Great product !

I like the looks and simple functional construction of this armguard. It tends to slide down toward my wrist after a few minutes. The end irritates my wrist when I bend it. I have tried to lace it differently, but it still has this problem. Otherwise it is a good product

    This arm guard is great. Simple to use and constructed of well built materials. It should last a very long time and is well suited to any application of the sport of archery. Other reviews have stated the level of discomfort of the elastic lashing string. I have to agree with those opinions, but I would like to share the solution that I devised to thwart that problem. After using the arm guard for the first time I strapped it tightly around a piece of PVC pipe that I had laying around the garage that was a little smaller in diameter to the thickest part of my forearm. I only took it off whenever I used it and afterward I would store it lashed to the PVC. In doing so I was able to brake in the shape of the arm guard very quickly. With the arm guard holding a round shape I don't have to lash the arm guard as tightly to get it to conform to the shape of my arm. It's still a little uncomfortable after an hour of use, but it doesn't cut into my arm or cut off the circulation. Hope this helps others until they find a better solution for themselves.

    I wanted to use this armguard immediately because the effectiveness of my other armguard had diminished. This armguard is too stiff to wear right away without first spending time breaking it in. I purchased some leather conditioner from Tandy Leather to make the stiff leather backing more supple because it was very uncomfortable. After working the leather for about two hours, I am able to enjoy the product. I'm not too keen on the stretch chord fastening system. It's cumbersome trying to do it one handed.

      Great armguard, couldn't recommend it more. Only gripe would be that it's a fine line between getting it just tight enough to stop any movement and causing forearm discomfort. I suspect that replacing the elastic cord with a soft leather cord might do the trick.
      Definitely worth the money, this is solid, great thickness and the stitching is excellent. Looks good too! :)

      This guard is made to last for sure. But the elastic cord it comes with is way to
      thin and cuts into your arm. I would much rather have velcro straps. After a about 30 minutes it get very uncomfortable.

        This was a Christmas gift from my parents and I love it! It goes on easily enough and stays put! It does a good job compacting my shirt sleeve so that I don't have to worry about string slap and it protects my arm from the string. Leather seems to be very good quality and I don't think I'll be needing a new one anytime soon.
