    Pros

    • Long Flat Pieces

    Cons

    • Difficult to Use

    Best Uses

    • Bow Backing

    Comments about Back Sinew:

I purchased these for backing a bow. The great thing about them is they actually end up being about twice as long as the deer hank, and they come in a wide sheet.

Warning: The fact they come in a sheet makes you want to wrap them right along the back of the bow as a backing. Hold off on that for these reasons:

    1. It won't lay flat
    2. There is an uneven distribution of fibers from one side to the other so it will invite limb twist.
    3. The fibers curve, so getting everything lined up is tricky.

Instead, just like the deer hank, separate it into groups of fibers (around the width of a shoe string or less) and lay them on individually. You can ensure a more even distribution if you do it like this.

Also one more tip, unlike the deer hank, you need to soak this stuff in warm water for at least a minute or two. The hank on the other hand can be used after its been submerged for as little as 3 seconds.
