I really like these Woodsman broadheads. For years I used various makers of two blade broadheads, but they are no comparison to these Woodsman heads for cut on impact, and penetration. I also needed more weight up front, so I opted for the 100 grain steel screw-in adapters and glued them up myself. Achieving concentricity of the broadhead was easy enough. I shoot these from my 52 lb. @ 29" recurve and got really good flight and great penetration. They do come to you with a very dull edge, but I have found that a single cut flat file while placing the broadhead in a vise is the easiest (and maybe the safest) way for me to put a sharp edge on these broadheads. I then use a 200, 300, 400, and then 600 grit diamond hone that I use for sharpening my hunting knives on these heads. Next, I top them off with a leather strap to remove any tiny burr edges that may still be present. Once they will shave the hair from my arm they are then ready for a good leather broadhead sheath. *** The only thing that I don't like about these broadheads is that these heads must have the very tip ends of the broadhead removed by filing a small pyramid on the tip to prevent metal curling. I would like to see this process accomplished at the point of manufacture. *** I almost forgot to mention the customer service. I had one broadhead in the six broadhead packet that had a copper weld bead that did not attach the back of one of the three blades to the ferrule. I called 3Rivers Archery and they replaced it with not one but three new broadheads. --- Thanks 3Rivers! ---

Plan on burning a lot of calories and increasing the strength of your hand muscles in trying to get a truly sharp edge on these points. My 6 pack of points took over 2 hours to sharpen with a nice set of diamond stones. The problem is that the grind on the mid section of the all the edges is very slightly concave which makes getting an even edge that can be sharpened open a flat stone a workout. Other than the poor grind they are strong will do the job, and your hand muscles will be the envy of all your friends.

Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 125gr Glue-On 6-Pack:

I love these things. In my other life as a compound bow hunter, I used Wasp Broadheads due to penetration qualities - these heads surpass them for the soft flesh penetration. I have not had any bone hits yet so I cant personally comment on that. But these fly true and slice beautifully. Tips like needles. I love them.

    Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 125gr Glue-On 6-Pack:

I have used these heads for the last several years taking Mule Deer, Whitetail Deer, Antelope, Wild Hogs and Wild Turkey with them. They have performed well on all animals and have given me complete pass through's on most animals even the turkeys. I sharpen them with a file and have no trouble getting them sharp. I leave the point very keen and do not try to blunt them at all and have only a couple of the tips turn or bend at all after a pass through shot.

      Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 125gr Glue-On 6-Pack:

I like these broadheads for a couple of reasons. They are strong and seem to shoot where my field points do. I personally have problems sharpening them. I also do not like the noise they make. If I can hear them flying away from me, I assume a game animal can hear it coming toward him.

        Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 125gr Glue-On 6-Pack:

after hunting the past 2yrs traditionally i finially took my first white tail deer. i hunt with a 56lb long bow, cedar arrows and woodsman glue on 125 gr broadheads. i made a perfect shot just behind the shoulder from 20yds and to my surprise the arrow didn't pass through. i was disappointed. she only ran 60yds. when i recovered the deer i relized what had stopped the arrow, her opposite leg had been back. the arrow had passed through the chest and completely shattered the front leg. i was amazed at the condition of the broadhead, it looked like it just came out of the package. these broadheads are awesume.

          Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 125gr Glue-On 6-Pack:

I killed my first elk with my recurve bow. I first ordered the screw-in head. I liked the way it shot, but I wanted to be able to time it. so I ordered the glue-on and used incerts to time them to the shaft. I didn't realize thay would weigh slightly more but to my suprise they shot slightly better in my setup. I was a little disapointed in the penetration untel I discovered it had blown through a heavy rib before passing through both lungs. The large elk only made it 40 yards at a walk before going down.

I recieved a set of the 125gr, glue on Woodsman point to build up some hunting arrows for myself. I put them on 29 inch P.O. Ceder shafts with five inch, shield cut fletching. At 20 yards they completely penetrated and exited my 3D deer target when thrown from my 50# recurve bow. Not bad performance at all for the price and being that I am must learning the game.

I've heard concerns about penetration with three blade heads, not so with the woodsman! Eighteen yard quartering to shot on mature whitetail with fifty pound Tomahawk SS. Complete penetration from behind the right shoulder with enough force to sever the off side knee! That's nearly full length! I'm sold! A breeze to sharpen too.

I have always been pleased with products, service and delivery.

Used These Broad heads this year, Got my first Whitetail with my Recurve. Excellent penetration went in behind left shoulder blade and broke right shoulder blade in half and exited right side. No tracking necessary...definitely recommend these

                        Comments about Woodsman Broadheads 125gr Glue-On 6-Pack:

over all this is a very decent and dependable head, any sharpening issues are usually due to the lack of good sharpening skills- many of us want instant results and many times the job at hand requires a little more time (or getting in touch with someone who has the experience or knowledge such as the staff atr 3 Rivers)or the correct tools for sharpening. obviously the needle sharp tips are not the ticket but this is an easy fix with just a few strokes of the file. as for the noise, is it possible that something as simple a thin strip of clear tape over the vents will eleminate this? something to think about! we as bowhunters have our own challenges, likes and dislikes, we also tend to be quick about putting distance between us and anything that we have had trouble or problems with- sadly we sometimes blame the broadhead for lack of a blood trail when the fact was it was a little high on the hit, resulting in most of the blood staying within the animal's cavity. Even with the possibilty of having to spend a little longer to get that first sharp polished edge, this product is far better and consistant in quality than almost anything that most of us could make ourselves. I have been hunting with as bow since the mid seventies and love the simplicity of this weapon that was recorded even in biblical times for taking venison. I really think that reading reviews on products such as this one allows us to see what other's experiences have been and in doing so, learn from them and even possibly make tiny improvements on them or avoid some mistakes. even the very best made hammer would have someone faulting it for something. these broadheads are far more duable, feasable and re-usable than any of those mechanical broadheads or many of the replaceable heads. when properly sharpened and maintained, these are very deadly hunting tools.
