I've been shooting Eskimo's now for the better part of 15 years. I've never had the first problem with them. I've shot through some very tough bone before and they always come out in perfect condition. I only shoot broadheads no matter what, no field points or judos. While out roving I shot this oak limb from about 30 yards away with an 80# longbow. This limb was not rotten. It split it and still headed through with no problem. Other heads I've used would have curled up upon impact of the limb. Lets say the limb is bone, they both have probably the same density and ability to stop the broadhead on the way through, but not the eskimo. It is strong enough to hold up to what you can throw its way. When I retrieved my arrow, it was still razor sharp. Another great thing about the Zwickeys are that they come to you almost sharp enough to hunt. I've never had to spend time getting a good edge, just a little honing and its off to the woods. Absolutely a great head.

My six pack contained 5 heads at 134 grains and one head at 131 grains. 3 Rivers explained, "The broadheads do not come presharpened. They will only have a factory grind on them. They are left a little heavy so that after they have been sharpened the weight will be close to the specified 125 grains." It's going to take a whole lot of sharpening to reduce the weight from 134 grains down to 125. 1-2 grains is my average sharpening reduction using my Spyderco tri-sharp. For the price, Zwickey needs to either ship them sharpened, or get the weight closer to the advertised grain weight. Nine grains high is too much.

Comments about Zwickey Eskimo 2-Blade 125 Grain Broadheads:

I have some 20 year old Zwickey Eskimo 2-Blade 125 Grain Broadheads and these look different than the new one I just received. The old ones have 22 spot welds down their length and the new one have just 11 spot welds. The new ones are also copper brazed, I can see the copper colour in the joined areas after I chemically striped the green paint off I can't see the copper on the old heads. These broadheads weigh about 130 grs. so your can sharpen them to arrive at your desired 125 gr. point weight. I like to repaint my broadheads with Rust-oleum universal Hammered Dark Bronze rattle can spray paint. The spot weld dimples blend with the hammered look paint to look super. I use the glue on two blade style for increased penetration with my 45# longbow and wood arrows. Good steel, strong construction, heat treated to hold an edge for me these are the prefect broadhead.

Comments about Zwickey Eskimo 2-Blade 125 Grain Broadheads:

I want to like these as they have been around forever. But these things come with a very rough grind and are extremely hard to sharpen. You will not get a shaving edge with these without a LOT of work.

Comments about Zwickey Eskimo 2-Blade 125 Grain Broadheads:

I mentioned in the cons section these are hard to sharpen, they are not. I have spent some time putting the initial edge on mine, but once I did, maintaining the edge is very easy. They don't hold an edge like my S30V steel knives, but this head only needs to make one cut. I've had great luck with them, taking a turkey and a mule deer. What I am saying is they will take a razor sharp edge and hold it long enough to make a clean kill on an animal. I will use these broadheads as long as I hunt with a stick.

Comments about Zwickey Eskimo 2-Blade 125 Grain Broadheads:

On a recent elk hunt in Colorado, I was fortunate enough to harvest a mature cow elk using a 58# recurve, 31.75" 2216 arrow, and ~170 gr Zwickey Eskimo 2 blade head (head + adapter). This is the first animal I have taken with a bow. The broadhead was easily file sharpened, no hone at all. She was 20 yrds broadside and was hit a little far back and high (liver/very back of opposite lung). The arrow burried to the fletching but did not exit. She went about 250 yrds, laid down an died. Although the blood trial was very sparce due to no exit and a high entry, the broadhead was very lethal. Had my placement been better, I am sure the blood trail would have been larger. I would highly recomend this product as being tough, leathal, easily sharpened with a file, and very reasonably priced. Thanks Zwickey Archery!

When I received this package they were listed as "Black Diamond" Zwickeys..don't know if there a difference, I never have bought the black diamonds, they may be the same thing. You are going to spend some time getting these hunting sharp. "the file that has the name this site considers profanity" file and fine honing stone does the trick for me. Fly as good as my field points, doesn't seem to matter what angle the blade is at as long as its straight on the shaft.
