Comments about AMO Style Riser Inserts 10-24:

5/16" and 'N' drill bits actually have different diameters. Use the smaller 'N' bit, its a tight fit but it's better than being too loose as some have experienced. Drill the depth to 1/2" the extra 1/8" makes the insert seat more properly, when the provided screw spreads the flange at the bottom.
I used a phenolic adhesive similar to that used in the skiing industry, its waterproof and if it is used to hold ski bindings down its probably overkill for this application.
Use proper tools, a drill press isn't necessary but helps and tap the insert in with a soft face mallet, like a light dead-blow, or press in with wood working vise.
Oh and pre-drill your centers with a smaller bit size first.
Done properly you can take a "jankey" quiver or sight install with wood screws and make it look something that looks factory installed.

Comments about AMO Style Riser Inserts 10-24:

I recommend using a 5/16" brad point drill bit for installation. I bought mine at Lee Valley. I also coated the inside of the holes with 5 minute (clear) epoxy. I figure the epoxy will keep out moisture and also hold the inserts in better.

      Same Criticism as First Reviewer

Comments about AMO Style Riser Inserts 10-24:

My experience in installing these riser inserts mirrors that of the first reviewer Like him, I read the instructions carefully several times, used a Kwikee quiver mount as a guide for precise spacing, and used the size of drill bit specified in the instructions. When all was said and done, one of the two inserts expanded properly and gripped the hole, the other rotates freely when I try to tighten a screw in it. My bow is an old WIng Archery "Red Wing Hunter," and unless I can figure out a fix for the loose insert, I'll have one useless insert and one useless 5/16" in it. I would not recommend this product.

            Defaced Bear Kodiak

Comments about AMO Style Riser Inserts 10-24:

I recently purchased the Martin AMO style inserts 10-24. I have an old Bear bow that I hoped to install them on. I proceed to follow the installation instructions carefully. I added a stop to my 5/16 drill bit to make sure that the depth was perfect. I even practiced on a scrap piece of wood. Having worked on musical instruments for many years, I understand the old saying "measure twice, cut once".

After reading the instructions multiple times, and completing my practice run, I clamped my old Bear Kodiak down. I made the precise measurements, markings and double checked everything with a spare quikee quiver bracket. I drilled my 5/16 holes only to find that bit is TOO BIG! For life of me, I could not get the bushings to grip the wood to allow the screw to turn to make the bottom of the bushing fan out. The instructions failed to mention that the seating between the wood and insert needed to be very snug. Now I had two lovely 5/16 drill bit holes in my Bear bow. I had to improvise. With some glue, and other things I managed to get the bushings in. They look awful and I don't feel comfortable mounting my bowfishing reel to it.

This type of installation may seem "second nature" to most, but is a good lesson for Martin. Omitting a simple sentence such as "the fit between the hole and insert must be snug" can mean the difference between a successful install or a defaced Kodiak Bow.

I am heartbroken that my esteemed Bear bow is defaced. Is there any action or compensation that can be made in such a situation. I know this is not a 3 Rivers issue necessarily, but I don't know what to do. Any advice or guidance would be greatly appreciated. I have attached a picture of the defaced bow.

Simple to setup and very good quality. The two types of included screws added a nice option for the final setup.

Happy to be done with tape.
