I was happy to see how much wax was already in the thread. As I made the string bundles this caused it to adhere to each other strand; then as I twisted them making flemish strings they went together very well. This is my first time making my own flemish strings; I promptly dragged all my old recurves out of the closet and made a new color coordinated string for each of them. They are starting to look great, and they really shoot well.

B-50 Inconsistencies

Since my sampling is small (4 colors in pound quantities), so, I cannot fully judge these materials, but I do notice significant differences in material diameters and degree of lubricant between different colors...Read complete review

Since my sampling is small (4 colors in pound quantities), so, I cannot fully judge these materials, but I do notice significant differences in material diameters and degree of lubricant between different colors. The white was particularly thin with little lubricant. This may be deliberate to preserve the bright white color, but this makes a significant problem when making twisted bow strings.

                I was very impressed the way this product held together when I completed my bundles. I especially loved the fact that it didn't unwhind when I was twisting my flemish twist, I used Tan and Green and the colors didn't bleed together

                    I make a lot of bow strings using twelve different colors of Brownell B-50 dacron. It stretches somewhat, but that's expected. However, when used in multi-color bowstring twists, the Brownwll Red color of B-50 bleeds all over other string colors. It bleeds onto light colored bow nocks, too.

                    Ugly problem, indeed.

                    So, I sent my spool of red Brownell B-50 back to the Brownell company explaining the problem I was having (even sent them a sample bowstring that I had made up with the red color showing the situation). Via email and with a letter enclosed I asked them if this problematic red spool of mine represented the norm with their B-50.

                    The first thing the Brownell company did was to send my old spool back to me with neither letter nor explanation (?). I wondered about Brownell's concern over any quality variations in what they sell. What a disappointment, as all of their other colors that I have used (9) have held color fast.

                    I have switched over to another manufacturer's dacron/polyester bow string material and have solved the bleeding red problem that I was having with the Brownell stuff and that's nice for both me and my bow string customers.

                    NOTE: after this review got out, Brownell sent me a new spool of red B-50. No explanation of why their red bleeds or anything, but at lease I got some response, if a bit tardy.
