    One of the essential tools in an archer's kit should be a pair of nock pliers, also known as nock crimpers. This one in particular is low-cost and made in China. It is spring-loaded (a feature I recommend), durable, and compact. The one drawback is that it only works with small and medium diameter nocks. Other more high-end pliers will have three diameter options. Since most archers stick with bow strings in the low to mid-sized ranges this version usually does the trick and saves a buck in the process. The thing to remember with any pliers is to gently crimp the knock, move the pliers a quarter turn, gently crimp again and repeat until snug. This prevents the brass nock from developing sharp edges and burrs.

    It seems like the pliers are only good for small nocks. I ordered medium nocks and the pliers would dig into the brass on both front and back ends leaving sharp edges. I'll be looking for another pair, Saunders looks like they may make a more versatile pair.

                    I have used the pliers on two occasions to install nock points (medium size). I was able to crimp the nocks on without incident. I was careful to gently squeeze the pliers while going around the nock, and then I would gradually squeeze a little firmer as I rotated the crimping surface of the pliers arond the nock. This method seemed to work best in securing the nock to the string.
