Love this bow. It is beautiful to look at and shoot. It did take me a while to get the brace height right, but when I did, it shot like butter. For a production bow, this guy performs. I put a leather grip, musk ox silencer, and leather quiver on it, and it looks sweet.(I am still saving up for a tomahawk longbow) Once again, 3RIVERS IS THE BEST......PERIOD

Comments about Savannah Longbow Martin Archery:

It is a good bow for the price the handle is petite but rounded and does not sit in the life line of my hand as well as some indexed handles do. I have medium size hands. I can still shoot it well. minimal hand shock because of the reflex-deflex design. be careful of the included factory stringer, metal bushing will take finish off bow, I taped mine. I am pulling 55lbs @ 27" by my digital scale, shooting a 550 grain arrow getting 160 feet per second by my chronoraph, with two muskox silencers one on each side of the serving.

Comments about Savannah Longbow Martin Archery:

I used to shoot competitive archery and have busted more than my share of nocks and taken my share of whitetails. I got tired of the mechanical bows and for now have switched to a long bow. The Savannah has fit the bill perfectly. It has taken me back to my archery roots planted when I was a kid and we made our own bows out of staves from the hedges on the side of our yard. I took a nice fat doe with it this year at the whopping distance of 11 yards. Double lung shot and almost a pass through. I'm 60 years old and still climbing trees without using ladders or tree steps. This bow has helped put the "hunt" back in hunting for me.

My son grew up shooting a compound and he has his share of "robin hoods"... the last two of which he made from 30 yards. When I visit him I almost always take my Savannah and there are times when I can't get it out of his hands. I simply had to get one for him. It's the second one I've bought. Will he give up hunting with his compound? I doubt it but I do know that shooting the Savannah will make him a better archer. It draws smoothly with hardly any appreciable stack; it's simple to "tune"; it's as accurate as the shooter; it's relatively fast (close to 200 fps shooting full length 2213's & 125 gr tips); it shoots smoothly; it's quiet; it's light as a feather and it's downright attractive. And of course, it's FUN to shoot! The pressure to hit 10's & X's is gone and with a month or so of practice, it's not that difficult to keep all your shots in the "kill zone" of a paper plate at 15 yards. I highly recommend this bow to anyone.

Comments about Savannah Longbow Martin Archery:

I LOVE this bow. Having shot recurves for 45 years, this was my first traditional (well, reflex/deflex) bow. It is lighter than a recurve and seems just as fast. Killed a nice little 4 X 4 bull elk with it this year -- it's just 45# at 28", though I draw 29.5#. The center-cut shelf makes it less sensitive to arrow spine than traditional longbows. Smooth shooting, no perceptible handshock and -- best of all -- it casts heavy arrows remarkably well. I'm shooting 750-grain arrows using Dr. Ashby's "Extreme Front of Center" approach with single-bevel broadheads. It works, as shown by the bull elk I killed: 13" of penetration, the elk bull walked 200-yards and fell over dead.

Comments about Savannah Longbow Martin Archery:

I have two Savannahs a 55# and a 45# and will probably buy another at 40#. For deer 40 or 45 pound pull is all you need as my 45# shoots a 2016 arrow with a 150 grain broadhead ( 505 grains total arrow weight) very fast and flat trajectory out to 30 yards. I can even shoot bare shafts out to 20yards with good acuracy, people see me do it and just shake there heads in wonder! I own custom longbows that cost twice as much as these that hardly get shot, as I shoot these Savanannhs more. This is my go to bow, just fun too shoot.

Comments about Savannah Longbow Martin Archery:

To begin with, this is a beautiful bow. The clear glass reinforcement allows the zebra wood grain to show through. The wood grain in the riser is a work of art. But this is more than just a pretty bow. This bow is fast and accurate. I acutally own two Savannah longbows - one at 55 lbs. for hunting and one at 45 lbs. for target shooting. This bow is extremely consistent and accurate. Point - aim - hit the targtet. For years I shot a compound bow. Then I shot a recurve. Now, the only bow I shoot is a Martin Savannah long bow. I would recommend this bow to anyone interested in traditional archery.

I've bowhunted since I was 11 years old with compounds and recurves, I'm now 43.
I decided to go fully traditional and the Savannah is my first Longbow, after practicing and hunting with for about 2 months I put my compound and recurve on craigslist and sold both.
I'm 6'2, 235lbs with a 29 inch draw and the bow fits me nicely.
Buy this bow, you wont be disappointed.
