    Does there really need to be a review of these limbs? Anyone that knows about Fred Bear Custom TD understands. It has been said that the Grayling bows are the best, I have both. The new limbs are as good and better than the old ones. The new limbs are also "Fast Flight" compatible which is a big plus.

    I ordered the 52# limbs for a 1970's "A" size Magnesium riser. They arrived fast and fit perfect. I chronograph all my bows and these limbs are on par with any of the top name custom bows in the speed department. The finish on the black glass is below average. I guess to be completely honest they have the most flaws in the finish that I have scene on any limb from a top of the line US bow producer.

    Bear and company - step it up on your finish details and try some clear glass over Tonkin Cain for a new look. You will step up in performance and your bad finish work won't show so much on glass that's not black.

    All that said, I like my limbs, but think evaluations should be honest and accurate to be helpful.

    These limbs fit looser in the riser than the original ones that came with the bow (circa 1980). Also dissappointed with the shipping, the limbs were just thrown in an unprotected non-factory box, rattled around and got nicked up.My guess is that I got somebody's return.

      Recieved a new set of 45lb and 55lb Diamond wood limbs. The 45's are #1 and the 55's are #3. They fit great and perform great. Both have long silver lines in the finish. Other bowyers have found a way to finish black limbs without silver streaks Bear can to.

          I ordered the 37# limbs for a 1970's "A" size Magnesium riser. They arrived fast and fit perfect. I chronograph all my bows and these limbs are on par with any of the top name custom bows in the speed department. They shoot a 500gr arrow at the same speed as two 40lb custom recurves we have from two different bowyers. The finish on the black glass is a nice matt. I now own a set of 37# and 52#, both sets show crazing lines in the finish after a few sessions at the range. Sometimes being overdrawn is blamed for these lines to appear but neither my wife or I have a long draw at 26" and 27". I am told this crazing (stress lines that appear running across the limbs) is harmless and seems to have no negative effect on performance. Many vintage Bear bows have these lines and have been shot that way since the 60's or longer.

            Looking forward to re-ordering The Bear limbs. I love my 65 lbs. limbs and will order a 50lbs. set.

            Waited Seven months for the Bear limbs, and when they arrived they were the wrong limbs. I sent them back and was given a refund. I will have to re-order , but will wait until Bear archery catches up on its back logged orders. Not 3R's fault about the long wait.

                  I would recommend this bow to anyone looking for the best. Its quick release and fast flight give this bow the title of the best hunting bow you could ever buy. One of the greatest things about this bow is it's so easy to set up. I can do it in less than 10 seconds. If you are looking for a good bow go with the Fred Bear take-down limbs.
