    Purchase my first recurve in 2007. It was a used "(1978) Fred Bear Grizzly 45#@28. I was very amazed that a 30yrs old bow was shooting so nicely. January 2010, I purchase a Fred Bear Super Kodiak #55@28. OMG, What a step up. With the fast flight string and the extra draw weight, this bow send arrows like rockets. There is no noticable drop within 20 Metres. I was invited for a black bear hunt by a hunting TV show (Québec/Canada) and smoked a bear at 15 Metres. It was a shoulder shot and managed to get a good 12" of penetration with the Stinger 4 blades broadheads. Very satisfied.

    contacted Bear regarding raised check lines which rose up on outer limb in cool weather,turning color....sent it in..Bear returned it,saying no problem. When hunting season opened the next yr...same story...called them, again the same answer, don't worry about it. Two days later, while slowly drawing down on a buck..the limb exploded in my hands at (yes) the very lines I complained about in the lamination. Called and told them. In short...no satisfaction,since the warranty went out prior to the open of season. Ill deal with anyone except Bear bows from now on. It may have been 1 in 1000, but it was my one,and I didnt appreciate the runaround,especially after tellilng them a dozen bowyers had told me not to shoot it.

          What a great bow! I picked up a 55# from here at 3R and this thing is awesome. Beautiful finish, shoots like a dream. Several other recurves seemed to leave my left shoulder sore, yet after a few sessions with the SK, I'm feeling no pain whatsoever. Sure hope this bad boy holds out, cuz I hear Bear Archery's customer service is terrible.

          Service and delivery comments:

          Service and delivery were excellent. Shipping was fast and my bow arrived with all the extras I ordered. Only con is UPS seemed to have busted open the box. Think 3R needs to get on UPS's case about that. Still, I'll definitely order from here again...and again, and agian.

            First let me say something about 3 Rivers. The first SK I received had some issues. After set up, I shot 3 times and blisters formed on the right side of the limbs. Looked like a bad glue line. I called 3 Rivers and got a no hassle and fast exchange of the bow. They Rock! The replacment bow has performed flawlessly.I got the r/h 65# model. It draws smooth, seems to hit with plenty of power, and its accurate.Love it so far.

              I originally shot traditional as a child/teen, then moved to modern gear when I started hunting. I wanted to go back to traditional because I simply couldn't deal with looking at hunting bows with levels and the continued nonsense growing from them. So I read every review and shot every trad bow I could get my hands on and decided on this. It was a great choice. VERY smooth draw out to 29 inches on a 65lb bow and very fast and quiet. I have always shot heavy bows but was still concerned the higher weight would be a problem/finger pinch, but the bow performs smoothly and honestly, feels no different than a 55lb bow. Needless to say, I am thrilled with the bow and would reccomend it to anyone, especially those who want to get back to traditional. Shipping and handling was awesome. Great product, great service.

                I've used a custom made recurve for 25 years until it broke in December, mid season here. The Kodiak arrived two days later and was immediately comfortable to shoot and plenty powerful. I dropped from 66# to 55# due to my age but the Kodiak is plenty of bow at any normal hunting range. Thanks

                    My new Super Kodiak, purchased from 3Rivers, has the brown and black Dymondwood riser with black glass and a matte finish. This bow was a bit noisy with the fastflight string, but by adding string groove silencers to help silence string-slap and a pair of puff balls to the string, it now shoots smooth, fast AND whisper silent!

                    This bow performs flawlessly, and I'm very happy with it. I'd recommend this bow to anyone.

                    The only thing that's missing is a semi-gloss finish which, to me, would be "Frosting on the
                    cake!".

                      Started with a Bear Grizzly 50# 5 weeks ago. After a 1000 arrows or so the string sheared through the top limb cutting it into three. With 366 grain arrows I was getting 216fps through a chrony at the store. Bare string.

                      Replaced it with a Bear Super Kodiak 50#, same arrows, 231fps at the store, after brush busters and cat whiskers installed the bow is silent but still delivers 215 fps.

                      My draw length is 31.5 inches and when the bow is pulled on a scale to this draw length it is measuring out at 65 #s.

                      The biggest differences between the two bows would be noise (way less)and consistency (way better, 4" groups at 20 yards).

                        Wow, I really can't believe how smoothly this bow draws. There is no stacking whatsoever.

                        Once I got it dialed in, the power was impressive.

                        I've gravitated toward longbows in the past, partly because of their lightweight, but the SK barely feels any heavier in the hand than my Bear Montana. This is a light, smooth and fast hunting recurve.
