a disapointment

After reading the rave reviews on this longbow, I decided to purchase the Montana. Finding one in a 55# was a little difficult because everyone seemed to be sold out of this poundage. Because I needed to pick one up before a hunting trip and still have time to dial in the tuning before the trip, I was forced to buy one at Bass pro and NOT the best place to buy anything that has anything to do with traditional bows. I purchased the bow and went thru the tuning process, which was quite easy. But when I removed the ugly (in my opinion) black leather grip to install a "sure grip" (from 3Rivers) I realized that there were gaps in the laminate on the grip portion of the bow. the stock grip hid this defect. It seems quality control was out to lunch that day. The bow was nice to shoot, and did tune well out of the box, but I expect a little more quality when purchasing a bow, ecspecialy from a company like Bear. They did offer to replace the bow, but there would have been a 3-4 week wait, so I returned it to bass pro.(who knows nothing about traditional bows by the way) Stick to the best when buying a bow.........3Rivers and trust me, they have the best customer service in traditional bows and equip that you will find, Hands down. PS... I'm saving up for a tomahawk longbow....

    I have been shooting instinctive for about 35 years and had only used recurves for the past 20 or so. I wanted a good mid price longbow to get back into it. This long bow is awesome! Well built, no stacking, and smooth shooting.

            The performance of this bow matches any that I have seen from much more pricey, custom bows. Proof that you do not need to spend $800 on a good shooting longbow. Its fast, powerful, and easy to aim and shoot. Absolutely perfect bow for practice, the 3D course, or hunting. I cant wait to get this bow in woods next hunting season!

                I've been shooting a compound bow for over 15 years now and I wanted to try traditional archery. The first time I shot the 55# Montana I was able to achieve 4" groups at 20 yards. With more practice I'm sure I'll be able to extend my effective range. I placed moleskin on the shelf and added string silencers. The bow is smooth, very quiet, and weighs just over a pound. The finish of the bow is high quality and the layers of laminated wood have been flawlessly pressed together. I can't imagine why I would need to upgrade to a more expensive model. I love it! The speed of delivery and the professional customer service provided by 3RiversArchery cannot be beat.

                    I use this bow for practuse and hunting. I hunt deer 45 days of the season with this bow. I have used this bow three years and still enjoy shooting it but Im about to buy this same bow just in higher poundage because it is only 45 pounds and too light now. The bow hits good and accurate from close to 25 yards I can hit tight groups I have killed 3 animals with this bow 2 deer and a bobcat.
                    The bow shoots with no shock and has a super smooth drawl. Good bow to teach or to learn with just don't get too high of poundage because you won't hit consistent. LOVE THIS BOW!!!!!!
