This is an excellent book. It's been very valuable to me, getting started in archery again after many years away.
I like the approach better than the one in the Instinctive Archery Insights, although that's worth the read, too. Ferguson is down to earth, suggesting the use of actual spots on the target for aiming, rather than imagined spots. Ferguson gets to the point about shooting, then uses the rest of the book to talk about the ends to the means, having fun shooting and hunting.
Ferguson certainly has earned his credentials and has written a valuable addition to the learning process. I'm sure my copy is not the only one that is getting more worn by the day.

A good book for someone who is not necesarily new to bowhunting. I have used Byron's ideas on treestand placement to excellent effect. His shooting method is not necessarily my choice, but you can't argue its effectiveness for Byron! Moon phases,....well, I'm still on the fence about it's relevance, but it is very interesting!

I really liked this book. No it wasn't the most profound book I've ever read. What I like about Byron is he wants to shoot well to be a good hunter. Yes he is a trick shot guy yes he makes some money being a trick shot guy but I got the idea from this book that if he had his choice he would be in the woods every day. Most helpful part was talking about positive attitude and how it influences shooting..... BELIVE IN YOURSELF MAN!!!

Comments about Become the Arrow: The Art of Modern Barebow Shooting:

I am always a sucker for learning something, or in some cases re-learning. Byron Ferguson is one of the all time greats. His book is full of advice and tips for everyone, beginner, novice, expert, recreational shooter and hunters. This is one of those books where you read a few pages and are ready to go out and shoot your bow some to try a new technique or try out a tip, but then again anything that makes you shoot more is always a good thing. Try the book you wont be disappointed!

I bought this since I am a beginning traditional archer. I have shot compounds for about 25 years. You can read between the lines and see Byron Ferguson is probably a great guy to be around.
This book answered a lot of the questions I have as a beginner. The only negative I can really see is I feel some of the information could have went a little more in depth.

This was an interesting book to me because I'm wanting to learn as many ways as I can on how to shoot a bare bow. If you have ever seen Mr. Ferguson shoot you have to be curios how he does it I know I was. He talks a lot about form and how to practice and that was very helpful to me.

I consider my self to be very competent with a compound bow but decided to start shooting bear bow like i had before I became a compound shooter. I picked this book up and have read it cover to cover several times now. It has helped immensely with my form and technique. It is very well written with straight forward information that is helpful without being complicated or long winded. In addition to information on shooting, the book also covers techniques for hunting different animals as well as terrains. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is starting out or just wants to improve their skill with a traditional bow.

This book helped me. I took my sights off and started using Byron teachings. I made my first 80 yard bulls' eye bear bow. I highly recommend this book to new archers or the most experienced. Compound or traditional shooters will get the knowledge to shoot like the best.

This book would be great for someone who has never shot a bow without sights before!

If you have already learned how to shoot, don't read this book! I learned by shooting many arrows and reading 'Instinctive Shooting" and after reading this book and trying to apply it's principles, started shooting a lot worse.

Byron Ferguson is a great shot, but if you know how to shoot instinctively it may be a mistake to read it.
