    This is a easy to use, cheap to purchase board. The problem I ran into is that once you have the board there is no easy way to measure your string w/ the adjustable peg. 3 Rivers needs to add length indicators to the board, or at least in the instructions so you have an idea of what length string you are going to cut!! Also a cut slot on the top of the board would be nice, like a small slit of metal that you can run your blad down without cutting into the board!!

            I bought this jig to make some flemish strings for the bows I was making. Having never made a string before, this jig was a tremendous help and came with good instructions.
            Granted you could always make one of these jigs yourself for basically free if you have scrap wood and nails, but its not very expensive and I figured between making the bow and the strings id rather get to shooting than another project. Plus it looks a whole lot better than one made of scrap wood.

              I enjoy working with my hands. I build my own arrows, quivers, strings and anything else that has to do with archery. This jig is simple to use, especially with the well written instructions. It is compact so one can set it right in front of you to work with. Once the bundle is on the jig there is no slipping of the string.the bundle is very easy to take off of the jig. I might suggest printing a ruler along the edge of the jig. I marked my own so I have reference points to measure the loopsize, length of twist, etc..

                I have tried three different flemish bow string jigs and this one is almost at the top of the list. Considering the affordable price, it comes in as the best buy out there.

                There are two things that you will need to do when you get this jig. One is to mark off measurement and string length numbers onto the wooden base. The other is to chisel a V-groove into the middle of the board between the two rows of stagger nails to assist in cutting the string. Once this is done, you'll have yourself one nice little flemish jig. (I also added an oil finish to the bare wood, too)

                One very nice thing about the 3Rivers version of this venerable tool is that it can make up to a 70" string length, while many others stop at a 63" or 65" string length. This is Very nice for those of us making traditional English longbows requiring longer bowstrings.

                  I use the string jig to construct bow strings. I,m glad I decided to buy the jig instead of building my own, because then I was able to get started as soon as I got it in and watched it being used on the DVD. The lay out was well explained on the DVD as well as how to use the jig. The ease of use of this product is amazing making bow string building a breeze. I can't recomed this product highly enough it is a great product. I can't find anything I don't like about the string jig it even looks nice and is well made. Thanks to this product I am no longer dependant on someone else makeing my bow strings for me. This not only saves me time but money also.

                      Can't falt the jig quality or it's price. Two points that could be better.
                      1. the instructions need to be clearer (maybe somebody to proof read). I had to go on line to some other sites and videos to figure out what they were talking about.
                      2. I still have been unable to make a string that actually measures what the instructions say it should measure. Got a 57" string when setting jig for 55". I think what is off is that there is not sufficent allowance for the 1-2" that are needed for the loops. Got it to come out the right lenght by taking another string, running it around the jig one time and then measuring the string. I think the instructions are off by 2".

                        I ordered this product to make my own strings as I Had found a new method of making bows and needed more strings at a cheaper price. So far this has been an excellent product and i have already made 4 strings with it in the short time I have owned it. My only suggestion to 3 Rivers would be to add about 4 more holes to the jig to make it more universal for both long and short bows. My friend asked me to make him a strimg for his bow but i do not believe the jig can make a long enough string for ot as this long bow of his measures out at 73" long. All in all I have found this to be an amazing and very usefull product and would deffinetly recommend it to a friend.

                                  The directions that came with it didn't work for me but I had "The Traditional Bowyers Bible, Vol. 2" which had very good instructions. It explained the steps in a way that I understood better. My first bow string came out just the way I wanted it and I expect it to get easier as I continue.
