    I've used rubber cat whiskers for years, usually doubling their thickness. These silencers are so much easier to install and silence much better. I used two sets on my string do to my bow's large poundage. I expected a loss in arrow speed with two pair, but I was surprised to see that I had no noticeable speed loss. They take a little while to fussed out and break in but overall they are great silencers. I'll never go back to rubber whiskers.

    when i bought these silencers, i was really sold on the description and reviews. i have used wool, yarn, ect., but not musk ox. after reading the description and seeing the price point, i thought these must really be some kind of string silencers. when i got them and placed the silencers on my bow i found them to be attractive, very soft and light weight. when i shot my bow i found them to work no better or no worse than any other silencer. overall i am happy with the product, just not happy how much i over paid for it.

        I tried the other wool silencers, cat whiskers and fur. These are by far the quietest. Easy to install. They do tend to fluff material off for a day or two. Heavier than the beaver fur and cat whiskers but they more than make up for it in quietness.

          I just purchased the Bear Ausable longbow and bought these at the same time to reduce the string noise. I also have the Bear Montana longbow which is very quiet. The write-up for the Ausable was that it was a fast quiet longbow. The design of the Ausable is a fairly pronounced reflex - deflex design so the bow had a bit more of a twang than I expected, more like my recurve. The Ox Bow String Silencers eliminated at least half of the string noise making it similar to the Montana without string silencers. However, I also put these string silencers on the Montana which made it whisper quiet. I have the rubber spider legs on my recurve but they don't cut the noise as well as the Ox Bow String Silencers do. I would recommend these for any bow.

                    I added the musk ox silencers to my setup some weeks back. It is difficult to make a completely independent assessment of them because I also added the stiktamers at the same time. What I can say is that the overall effect is wonderfully copacetic. Colleagues have noticed how quiet my setup is even at my recurve draw weight of 75 lbs. I recurrently hear the words "beautiful" and "elegant" on the 3D course. Silent but deadly!
