I found this book quite interesting. The technique described may make your archery coach cringe(mine did) , but the bottom line is: It works! and it doesnt take very long at all to start gettting results, especially if sort of know your way around a bow already. My take on it is that if you have solid fundamentals, you can take liberties with certain aspects of form, much as a jazz musician can bend the rules of music theory and still get something that works. To sum up, although I still use conventional technique for my compound bow and olympic recurve, I find that I prefer to use Fred Asbell's technique when shooting barebow. The combination of dvd + book makes the technique extrememly easy to understand and learn. If you shoot bare bow, you should get this. Even if you choose not to adopt this style, it will help you understand the cognitive and kinesthetic aspects of instinctive archery.

Only with a couple weeks of training with my longbow and recurve bow, this DVD and book taught me pretty good accuracy. The technique is very well explained in both the DVD and book.

This was a great DVD/book combo. The Dvd feels a little short however. I would have liked to see specific instruction on longbow alone, as the book treats it as a completely different way of shooting, and the DVD seems to focus on recurve. Narration by Fred Asbell is excellent, although it does feel dated. The book is somewhat more in depth, illustrating proper hand placement for type of bow, and also the importance of a visible arrow.

Great read, good dvd and overall a worthwhile package for someone wishing to learn how to shoot well instinctively.
