    I took delivery of a 50 lb. Barta Bow a few weeks ago. It is exactly as advertised: stable, forgiving, smooth drawing. The bow is not flashy but has an understated beauty. The fit and finish are excellent; no tools marks or finish flaws. High quality materials and workmanship are apparent as expected from Martin Archery. The grip design allows the bow to point naturally and consistently where I look. In short order my shots were on target and consistent. The bow shoots with a muffled “thud” to the ears and no discernible shock to the hand. There is nothing whatsoever harsh about the Barta Bow. Add a set of string silencers and it’s ready to hunt. I braced the bow at 7⅛”, which seems to be the sweet spot. I am experimenting with arrows, but 30” ash shafts of 45-50 lb. spine fly very well. I prefer slightly underspined arrows in a longbow and feel safe saying any arrow in the 45-50 lb. range will work. Altogether I am completely satisfied with my Barta Bow. It is a simple, functional, elegant tool that I shoot well. Thanks to 3 Rivers Archery, Tred Barta, and Martin Archery for a great product.

    It's a no frills bow the string that came with the bow was cheap and poorly made never did use it shelf rest and striker plate didn't last a month replaced with seal skin third string I used df97 14 strand its starting to come togather but you can start with some custom bow at this price I would really shop around before I bought this bow

        I wanted to upgrade from my Bear Montana to this bow. I was very dissapointed. The Barta was much less a quality bow for me. The limb nocks were cut too weak to hold the string, and it would slip off while stringing. This may have been a defect from the Martin manufactoring plant. I sent it back to 3 Rivers and they put the purchase price towards a Tomahawk SS which I am very happy with. If you get a Barta that is well constructed, it may shoot well for you.

            Sometimes you buy a custom bow with high expectations, only to find disapointment, this has been the case with me and high end bows. I read reviews here and decided to take the plunge and buy the barta bow. What I received is what I expected, a well made, no frills bow. I am very happy and I am having a lot of fun shooting it. Not a barn burner, but decent cast and speed with no hand shock.

              I've had this bow for two years now and it is holding up great. I love it, it looks great, it feels great, it accurate, and there is zero hand shock. Any one who is getting into traditional archery or is a veteran needs to get this bow. There is a reason it was made for tred.

                    I've been shooting and teaching archery for several years, mainly longbow and recurve. This bow is a good example of a bow that falls between the two. It is a longbow, but the grip and curve of the limbs hint at a recurve and the combination works wonderfully. Most notably, after shooting several ends, it remains very comfortable in the hand, almost more comfortable the more you shoot. Sold as a 64" bow, mine is actually a 62.5". A 64 AMO string, therefore, results in a less than adaquate brace height. Also, because the nocks are located very near the ends of the limbs, the three different types of stringers I have don't work well. I've ordered the longbow stringer from 3Rivers and hopefully that will solve that minor problem.

                      I bought this bow 3 yrs ago and killed my first deer this year and followed that up with three more deer, one being a 9pt trophy. I drove 3 plus hrs. one way from chicago to three rivers to try it before I bought it and see no reason to buy another bow, accurate,powerful and smooth as silk. Anyone who thinks they need to spend alot for a good bow check out tred's bow first,you won't be disappointed.

                          1. 64 in. length not to long not to short 2.eye appeal just gray laminated riser just looks srong 3. when strung it has the d bend which i call a beautiful cresant from tip to tip right along the handle end to end a flowing cresant i think this is what turns people on to this bow . and that incredible grip not true old longbow not recurve just perfect fit and the very smooth unstacking draw and just the right amount of power and let us not forget the bowers from one of the oldest companies made it and 3 rivers who sold it to me equals no flaws thank you.

                            I bought the Barta bow to replace a hated "custom-made" longbow I had been shooting for a year. On the first shoot with the Barta bow, my score on our club's regular course jumped significantly, and I have moved back into the bracket where I was before I bought the previous bow. The Barta bow fits my hand perfectly, has a smooth draw, no hand shock, and is deadly accurate. And it is a thing of beauty. Thank you Tred Barta, Martin Archery and 3Rivers.
