I was a little disappointed because these shafts don't take stain and tung oil well. Also, the overall diameter was a little bigger than 11/32" which made it a little difficult to taper the nocks and points. One great benefit is that I didn't have to straighten them!

I upgraded to the better shafts from the cedar for the price of an even dozen because the last two orders I received from this distributor had one damaged shaft per dozen. My hope was with the more expensive shafts I would not have that problem. They used to ship 13 shafts for the price of 12 and that always seemed to overcome this problem. As I can only afford a dozen at a time I was at least able to trim the end a little short and still use the shaft this time. I wish they would go back to 13 for the set of 12 again. Once I straightened them out and fired them they shot well and quite accurate. Twenty yards on a standard 60 centimeter target 3 blue, the rest were red or gold.

    I make all kinds of arrows and this wood is the best for any of my arrows. i used these shafts for my 60 pound longbow and they work great! if you use the walnut stain and green fletchings cut in the traditional form they will make arrows that like something from a video game which i like. i did a test with theis shaft and compared it to other wood shafts and this wood is stronger than the others and won't break as easily. you can use these arrow shafts for anything from target shooting to stump shooting to competitions to hunting! i got my first deer with these shafts and i'm glad it didn't break. i would recommend these for any begining arrow maker that would like to make long lasting arrows.

    I will use the sitka spruce dowels (arrows when finished)for both hunting and target practice chiefly for target practice and use the best of the bunch for hunting.
    I am somewhat pleased with the 3 Rivers shafts, however four broke when bare shaft testing. However two fly far nock right the rest are POA
    so I suppose six outa twelve an't too bad.

              Just not what I was hoping for. I was shooting POC and I was breaking them quite frequently. So I thought I would try something a little stronger. To tell you the truth I think these are weaker. They aren't as straight as POC and once straightened they don't stay. Now I'm not one to write bad reviews but I'm just giving my honest experience with these. 3Rivers were great of course. Just disappointed with the arrows.

                  I got one shaft that was 295 grains and some that were over 400 grains and everything in between. I was a little frustrated by the inconsistency; however, the shafts were straight.
