    I STARTED USING THE B'BURGER IN 1966 TO FLETCH AND RE-FLETCH ARROWS FOR LESTER "JUGGER" GERVAIS. AFTER MOVING TO SO. CAL IN OCT, 66' AND GOING TO WORK FOR EASTON ALUMINUM MFG. IN VAN NUYES, I WAS ALLOWED TO USE THE BITZENBURGER SET-UP BELONGING TO MR. DOUG EASTON. HE HAD 3 DOZ., SET RIGHT, LEFT AND STRAIGHT; ALL INITIALLY SET UP BY HENRY? BITZENBURGER, HIMSELF. EACH DOZ WAS SET ON A CIRCULAR PIECE OF 3/4" PLYWOOD DESIGNED TO TURN 360 DEGREES SO THAT AS YOU FINISHED FLETCHING THE 12TH SHAFT, THE 1ST WAS READY TO BE TURNED AND FLETCHED AGAIN. THIS WAS CONTINUED UNTIL ALL 12 WERE FINISHED; PRECISION, QUICK, CLEAN, AND READY TO STEP OUTSIDE AND TEST ON MR. EASTON'S RANGE; 70 METERS IN HIS FRONT DRIVE. TO USE THE BITZENBURGER IS TO DRIVE A BEEMER AFTER USING A VW FOR 10 YEARS!!!!!!WOW. I CONTINUED TO USE THE BEE'S THROUGHOUT THE REST OF MY ARCHERY CAREER; WINNING NUMEROUS STATE AND REGIONAL AMATEUR CHAMPIONSHIPS BEFORE RETIRING IN LATE 1971.

    For a premium price I was expecting a premium product. After fletching only 6 arrows the metal plate on the left wing clamp came off. Wasn't to hard to fix, however had to stop fletching, run to the store, buy some JB Weld, glue the metal plate back on, wait 24hrs for the epoxy to cure, and finally back to fletching. Also, the instruction for adjusting for the helical clamp should include some words and not just a poor quality photo (thank God, for online documents and zoom). Again a relatively small complained, but again this thing isn't cheap and I was expecting a quality product given it comes from the heartland of the USA. And no e-mail address, come on Bitzenburger… Hopefully someone at Bitzenburger reads there distributors reviews of there products...

            this jig has fine adjustments to cater for different shaft sizes on a dial adjustment and allen key lock, cast alloy gives you a solid weight not light and flimsy. i have it on a piece of perspex with velcro on jig and base, packs away nice.

            Do yourself a favor and just buy this jig to begin with.... We tried to save a couple bucks going in by trying one of the plastic jobs. It was a PITA... The Blitz' is a pleasure to use. Will be buying the full set of clamps and indexers for it. Lives up to it's name and reputation.

                If you are looking for a quality fletcher, this is it. Does it absolutely have the world's best instruction manual? Perhaps no. Does it go out of its way to inform you about the tiny bearings and springs involved when switching out clamps from helical to offset? Definitely not and that can pose a major problem for the unprepared (the company would be well served to CLEARLY cover that aspect in my opinion).

                That said, there is nothing wrong with the product itself. It is high quality and built to last. After some initial fine tuning to get your particular feathers to sit exactly how you want them to sit on your arrow shafts ... you don't need to ever fuss with things again. Be sure to mark on the clamp where you need/want your feathers to sit and through trial and error find the right amount of glue to use per fletch. If you use too much glue and it starts gumming up the clamp, the beauty is that it is metal and a sharp knife will work to scrape the glue off. Problem solved.

                My pro shop charges $5 to fletch arrows. That means once adjusted for the price of buying feathers (in bulk) and glue ... this jig paid for itself after I fletched 20 arrows or so. Considering I've done well over 100 arrows on it by now and will no doubt do 100s more in my archery "career" ... this is one of the best purchases I've made. Not to mention there is something supremely satisfying fletching one's own arrows.

                          The first two shafts fletched did not have the setting right on the helical clap to the shaft due to my over ambitious desire to use the tool, and found it a little bit fussy setting this true to begin with. Once established, it was plain sailing from there and whipped out 6 more shafts like a professional. Do spend a little time adjusting the clamp to ensure the best shaft mating prior to starting and go from there.

                            My first impressions out of the box were, that I was holding quality, the set up/tuning is involved, but, you only have to set it up once and is nice for all of you perfectionists. Now to the jig, starting with the clamp, you find that you have a strong spring which holds the feather in place, a little lower you find the feather locater noches to help keep the feathers in the same place up and down the shaft. The magnet which clamps the clamp, to the jig, is on the right side of the clamp.The base of the jig houses the nock reciever which can be adjusted for four fleched flu flu arrows or three fleched regular arrows.The shaft rests in a grove at the front of the jig while the nock rests in the receiver. The thing is awesome.
