        I really am disappointed with the tool. "O-rings" are not in sufficient enough supply to keep adjustment wheels in place and as a result the wheels randomly move along the arrow shaft. At times while painting the arrow shaft would be thrown from the jig. Very expensive, poor quality control.

        First I want to apologize for any issues you have had with your crester. I understand this is a big expense and have worked hard to make it the best crester available. Without more details I cannot be certain of the issue, but I suspect this is a manufacturing tolerance issue with the retainer o-rings. If I buy the next size smaller o-rings they are too tight to be adjustable. The current size can on occasion run a little too loose. I try to catch these during QC, but my shop only reaches about 45*F in the winter, so I may have built this unit when it was cold and the o-rings were tight. Please contact me for replacement o-rings.
        If anyone has an issue with one of my cresters please contact me. (E-mail works best) If you have issues I want to know and fix them. I also want to know if I need to make changes based on how people use the crester.

          I make my own wooden arrows and have for a couple of years now and wanted to dress them up with my own cresting. That was the reason for the purchase. The set up was easy. I was able to put some rough cresting on some of my practice arrows immediately after I unpacked it. I did note that the end idler wheels towards the arrow stop side kept moving into the corner of the machine. The instructions said that you should try to keep the wheels out of the corners or it could damage the wheels. In any event, I couldn't seem to keep it from happening until I added a couple of nitrile o- rings and that stopped it from wanting to slide towards the corners. I was wondering why they wouldn't simply put a couple of O-rings in there to lock up the idler wheels. Anyhow, after that I did some cresting and all worked well. You need good brushes for sure to get the best lines. Overall the machine works great and I will get my use out of it.

          Please know that wheels bound up to the frame cannot hurt the crester but will make for unacceptable crester performance. This appears to be case of the crester being used in manner I had not envisioned which may well cause a change in future production. I always capture the upper roller in the idler arm. I see now that is not always how it is used. I welcome your calls and comments.

          This is the first cresting lathe I've ever had and I love it. The small size is nice and compact and it works well on a variety of arrow sizes. There's a small learning curve at first but once you get used to making some minor adjustments to balance the arrow, it works like a charm.
