This taper is the best. The sanding disk cuts all wood very well. I even square up some aluminums with it. Some say you can make a set-up similar to this with a sanding wheel, but I'm glad I forked over the monay to get the "right tool for the job". You'll be happy you got it.

I haven't used it enough to give it a flat out glowing review, but it did give me fast and clean tapers. Nifty little motor. Works very well. I did notice when it arrived that the aluminum base had a couple of cracks on the top. They weren't in a crucial area and didn't pass through to the underside, so I decided to accept it as is. It would have been nice if the manufacturer had done a better job with their instruction sheet as to how to use this thing. I'll take this moment to thank 3Rivers for having how-to videos.

If you have ever used the hand taper tools on your shafts then you will love this machine. Great looking tapers fast, every time! A little overpriced maybe, but has exceeded my expections as far as usefullness, a must have! The pot metal base needs to be heavier and needs to be handled with care, its thin and fragile, will dent and crack too easily. Mine arrived with cosmetic damage and 3 Rivers offered to exchange, but for now I hate to part with it. Maybe a little later.
