I use this sealer (with the accompanying Thunderbird thinner) with the pro dipper and gasket set, and it works very well. It doesn't seem to dry to the touch as quickly as the 3rivers gasket sealer--it still seems a bit tacky 60 seconds after application--but this simply demands a little more patience. Successive coats require at least 30 minutes of dry time between coats, and all coats are supposed to be applied within a 6-hour stretch, probably to allow them to bond to a single unified layer.

The finish turns out very smooth without polishing and resists scratching even from the bare metal resting surfaces of my fletching/burning jigs. It is about as resilient to accidental burning as you might expect; I scorched the first shaft by mistake in my feather burner with some nasty burn marks, but without igniting. Four coats of this stuff seems to add about a pound to the shaft's spine strength, and doesn't affect the straightness at all. Arrow-mate cement seems to bond fletching quite well to the finished surface.

I use a Preval protable spayer. Just thin the material and spray on several coats. I sticks to the oily wood, like cocobolo. Be sure to clear the unit after each coat. It dries very quickly and plugs up the sprayer if you don't clear it.
