        I'M AMAZED HOW STRONG THIS GLUE IS.IT WAS A NATURAL FOR OUR ANCESTORS TO DISCOVER AS THEY DEALT WITH SKINS ON A DAYLEY BASIS.TAKE A POT,A HANDFUL OF GRANULES,JUST COVER WITH A BIT OF WATER,A LOW HEAT,STIR AND THE GRANULES DISOLVE AND WAH LA GLUE.A LITTLE MORE WATER MAKES THIN GLUE.LET THE WATER EVAPORATE AND YOU'VE GOT THICK GLUE.IF IT DRIES ADD WATER HEAT AND STIR AND IT RECONSTITUTES.THIS GLUE WILL GLUE WOOD TO WOOD.SINEW TO WOOD AND BIRCH BARK TO SINEW LIKE A ROCK.A PRIMITIVE BOW MADE THIS WAY IS ACTUALLY A MODERN BOW MADE WITH THESE MATERIALS AND IS AS VALID A BOW TODAY AS IT EVER WAS.
        THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH WATER SOLUBLE.JUST KEEP IT DRY IT'S A BOW NOT A BOAT.GREAT STUFF.

        Comments about Hide Glue:

        Excellent glue with a fast tack and incredible bond strength. Also shrinks when it dries, so it makes parts fit even tighter then when they're originally clamped.

        Some tips:

        Keep it more watery than you think. Drip the glue on your finger. It should feel like olive oil, NOT like thick Elmer's or wood glue. If it is too thick, you will have a shorter working time, and the glue won't penetrate the cracks.

        Utilize the cooking cycle:

        Cook the glue right under the boil point (no bubbles or foamy film) until it it is around consistency of oil. Then paint your pieces with it. Let them dry. By the time they're set (5min about), the glue will be slightly thicker. Then put a nice coat of glue on both pieces and clamp. It will be amazing.

        Remember the first watery coat may seem useless when your doing it, but it is what soaks the fibers and cracks with glue, and what the next coat will bond to.

          This is a great glue source for sinew backing a bow. I recommend a 4 to 3 water to glue ratio when mixing the two.

          Excellent glue for primitive projects. I've used this glue with rawhide, bone, antler, and wood with good results. Barge cement works as well but hide glue is more authentic. Hide glue is water based which makes clean up easy. However, anything glued with hide glue may come apart if exposed to excessive moisture/water. Thats part of the primitive experience I guess.
