Got tired of the very short inserts that come with Goldtip shafts pulling out of foam targets especially when using broadheads. What a pain that is, try digging your points out of a tough foam target when they pull out. Even target points sometimes pull out!

These inserts are nice and long. That means there is more surface area for your glue. I didn't buy these because I wanted more weight so much as I wanted inserts that don't pull out.

I use the aluminum ones with my broadheads and the steel ones with judo points for stump shooting so both come out very close to the same weight.

The shafts I use these fit well on were the Goldtip 3555, Goldtip 5575, and Beeman 500 ICS Hunters (and probably other ICS Hunter shaft spines).

Haven't noticed any tolerance problem alluded to in another review. These are very well made.

The only improvements I can think of is to increase the "flat spot" on the steel insert so it's a little longer. This area seems to be good for the glue to hold and a bit more area here might be helpful.

Or, perhaps even better, the inserts could be made with deep wide groves on middle section for more glue holding power. However, they're miles ahead of regular inserts for holding power as is.

It would also be nice to have even more weights other than 50 and 100 grs. E.g., 75 grs., I think the manufacturer could also expand to make sizes that fit other carbon and aluminum shafts.

Comments about Byron Ferguson Heavy Hunter Inserts:

I noticed that when new inserts were installed by 3 rivers in new heavy hunter 400 shafts, that new points wabbled in 4 out of 6 arrows. The exterior of the shaft was true, but either the insert was cockeyed, or there were poor tolerances on the interior of the shaft. I suppose the points could be out of kilter, but I don't think so.

When installed in the 500 shafts the 50 grain insert was helpful in getting me a great FOC. 12% with a 145 grain point on arrows cut to 30 inches with my 50lb A&H ACS CX longbow.

The insert in combination with the Heavy Hunter shaft makes for one tough arrow. I just returned from a 3D shoot near Moses lake WA called the Rock Shoot. That's because there are beautiful rock formations amongst the sage. Also if you miss the animal you're going to hit a rock. I missed a couple of dozen shots. Friends arrows were splintering right and left. I broke one arrow and not because of direct impact but because the tail slapped sideways against a rock.
