I'm not sure what I think about these carbon collars. I like the idea and I do believe that they protect the end of the shaft from splintering if the arrow hits a cinder block but then I don't shoot at cinder blocks. Seriously, I don't recall ever splintering an arrow so I wonder why I might need these. I am using them on CX Heritage 150's and I find that if I twist the end of the arrow on sandpaper one revolution I can start the collar on correctly and tap it the rest of the way on with a small hammer. I put collars on 6 arrows and they shoot well and are certainly stronger with the collars. My only concern is that they do not remove well from bag targets and I wonder if they will hamper penetration on game animals. I'll keep shooting them but I'll probably hunt with arrows without the collars. If you have problems with arrows splintering or just want to improve the durability of your arrows I would highly recommend the collars as cheap insurance. I gave them 5 stars because they are well made and do what they are supposed to do at a reasonable price.

    I haven't killed anything yet.

These are the most frustrating things I've ever seen. I had 3Rivers build me a set of six arrows and two came off. They are not easy to pull from a bag and one ripped the whole tip, insert and collar off the first night. I repaired with new glue and the same two arrows have been shooting like a dream. They are a bear to pull out of a bag. You really have to yank your arrows out which can leave a nock mark in your leg!

Now wait! I was tuning a different bow to these and I hit a tree the same time for 3 shots! Arrows held together and are now still shooting! No breakage! They work!

I think they would be perfect with a taper on the back end for an easy target pull.

      Comments about Carbon Collars:

I have resistd these for a long time--they are pretty clunky and (to my eye) spoil the appearance of the shaft. But after shattering too many "indestructible" and expensive carbon arrows while stump shooting I decided to try them. Simply put, they work. I haven't had a split shaft since installing them. The fit on the Gold Tip shafts is close, which is good; the fit on the Trad Lite/Grizzlystik shafts, both of which are tapered, is somewhat loose. They still work.

          Comments about Carbon Collars:

I used these to repair a couple of arrows that suffered "rock encounters" on the 3D Range. Lost a little length but gained a slight bit of weight. I can see no difference in the way the arrows fly or group.
The collars were cheap, easy to use and clearly reinforces the arrow in a vulnerable area. I'm definitely going to utilize them on the next batch of arrows I assemble.

            Comments about Carbon Collars:

If you're looking for a quick and easy way to foot your carbon arrows, this is the ticket. If you're shooting micro diameter shafts like the Axis this product will allow you to use 5'16" screw in tips without using the Easton BARs. Two drawbacks that I see: 1. As I believe was stated in some earlier reveiws, these do NOT work well with bag style targets. They create just a very small "lip", but it is enough to get caught on the woven exterior bag material. 2. The color. It's not a huge issue really, but it would be nice to see them offered in a darker anodized color, even if it increased the price by a dollar or two. Of course, neither of these are an issue at all if you're just looking to reinforce some "stumping" arrows.

            Comments about Carbon Collars:

I gave 2 stars for their purpose. They do prevent splintering from hard surface impacts. When installing on Beman MFX Classic arrows you have to install the collar prior to installing the HIT insert. No problem except the inner diameter of the collars is inconsistant. I had 9 out of a dozen that the insert or a field tip would not go through. I tested the tip and insert before installing them and had to drill out the hole to get points and inserts to go through. Time consuming and a pain to get to fit properly.

Make sure to install these before you glue in your inserts. I put these on my now "stump shooting" arrows because they make pulling them from my Styrofoam targets a little more difficult. I have not yet been able to stress test them, but they seem very sturdy and are very light.

                  Comments about Carbon Collars:

I would definitely recommend these for all shafts that use the hidden insert technology. It makes the shaft tip much stronger and for a resonable price. if the shaft gets damaged and starts coming apart it's garbage and it's not hard to do on the H.I.T. arrows.

I wouldn't be without these for target arrows. Easy to install, good fit on Beman ICS Bowhunter shafts (300's) (I glue them on to seal them).

Installation is very easy and consistent.

Since using these, I've Robin-Hooded three arrows (600 grain) from 20 yards and have not split or damaged any of the shafts. The nocks were, of course, completely destroyed...but nocks are cheap!

Hitting trees and stumps causes no damage to date.

They can be difficult to pull from a bag targets (the color catches) but pull well from my Rinehart 18-1 foam target.

I probably won't use them on hunting arrows, but they are so light that I do not anticipate any difference in arrow flight without them.

                        Comments about Carbon Collars:

I purchased them and nock collars for a dozen Carbon Express Heritage 90 shafts. They work great but since the ones for 90 shafts fit loosely they must be glued on. I lost one along with the insert in a 3D target after shooting it several times, but believe that was because I used too little Bohning Insert Iron glue when installing that particular insert. The other 11 inserts and collars have held up fine. I have broken two nocks when missing targets, but the shafts were not affected. They remove surprisingly easily from 3Ds, but are hard to pull from bag targets. Possibly use of 5/16" points instead of 9/32" points that were recommended might pull easier since they would be closer to the diameter of the collars. The broken forward end of the nock cannot be removed from the shaft, but is no problem since it fits snuggly and remains in place when installing a new nock.
Overall, a great product and idea!
