Comments about True North Waterborne Acrylic Cresting Paint:

This has been the best cresting paint I have used in over 25 years of making my own arrows. Used with the True North Crown Dip paints, I have found these paints to be fool proof. The learning curve was very short and after just a few arrows, I had the paint going on smooth and easy. I do use light color (yellow and white) crown dip first.Drying time takes a little longer than some paints, but not a problem. Give it a try.

Not opaque enough for good coverage on dark or even light colors...better off with very fast drying opaque model paints.
Expensive, it's just plain acrylic paint !!
Attached photo flu's were finished finally with model paints in one shot color sequences.

Bottom Line No, I would not recommend this to a friend

“These are not ‘plain acrylic paints’.
These products are the paint industry’s best eco-friendly professional -industrial grade, exterior grade waterborne products. These are not hobby paints. Waterborne (water
based) products have more of a learning curve than the lacquer/solvent type paints.
Coverage is exceptional, as some of the cresting paints i.e.: yellow, pinks, flo-lime, flo-pink, flo-orange are harder to cover than other colors, more coats needed to
acheve desired depth.

These products are designed to replace solvent based products for a more environmentally safe alternative and available to ship anywhere unlike solvent products. It is
recommended to follow all instructions whether using these products on wood, carbon or aluminum arrows such as using the proper preparation and primers for aluminum and carbon arrows.
Also manufacturer always recommends True North Arrows llc. clear coating of metallics and flo-type colors for added protection. The water based metallics are not an industrial
or exterior grade.

It is recommended that you do not mix True North Arrows llc. products with other manufacture's products as it may not be compatible.”

Did not use all colors so some may be better than others. Sons arrows I painted the( thick not so easy) black paint first, then the silver not much of a problem. My arrows: silver first then some overlap with black...Troubles started to show up four arrows now five arrows into ...stop! yes as the arrows started to dry a reaction happened the metallic in the silver caused the black to wrinkle and crack showing silver through the black. By this stage of arrow building you are many, many hours in what a disappointment. Recommend you have an old blank shaft and test all procedures prior to starting.

“I can tell that the problem was he did not let the paint dry or cure. If the paint is ‘pushed’ (meaning trying to re-coat right away or overlap colors) it will crack and check. This has happened in testing I did before offering these products. These products are NOT like lacquer (instant drying). The odorless and eco-friendly paint needs more dry time/cure time.

It is recommended that you do not mix True North Arrows LLC. products with other manufacturer's products.”

Comments about True North Waterborne Acrylic Cresting Paint:

This is EXACTLY what I have been hoping for. A non-toxic, no fumes, easy clean up cap dip and cresting paint that has excellent flow and coverage. The plus is you can use the True North clear finish OVER the cresting with no running of even the finest striping. They offer as many colors as one needs to dip and crest great looking arrows without the fumes. Clean up is a snap, warm water on the brushes and a wet soapy rag for drips on the equipment or tabletop. I met the product maker at the Kalamazoo Traditional Archery Expo 2012 and given his background in paint and his explanation of his products, I couldn't wait to try them. Great products!
