I wanted to avoid the high cost of an arrow saw for my aluminum arrows and this turned out to be a great solution. I highly recommend getting the arrow squaring tool also, as I did. The tube cutter does not cut perfectly square every time, but the combo of this tool with the arrow squaring tool works great. I cut all my own aluminum arrows this way with no detriment to arrow performance. Very pleased.

Real handy when your trying out aluminium arrows for a new bow. It cuts way better than my copper pipe cutter.You MUST use light pressure to minimize the burr!! I use a tapered hand reamer from my reloading supplies to de-burr after cutting.The de-burr tool from 3-rivers looks like it would work well.It paid for itself just in the gas I saved from traveling to archery shop to cut arrows.

I recently bought the tube cutter to cut a dozen (Easton Legacy) aluminun arrows to length, and the cutter worked great! It is an inexpensive alternative to an electric saw. It does take a little more time and work, but if you are on a budget, it is well worth the effort. A couple things are important to be prepared for when using the cutter. The tube cutter will leave some burs around the inside of the shaft that will have to be shaved off to install the insert. I've found this can easily be done with a pocket knife, although you'll want to be careful to shave a little off at a time. Also, a little sandpaper works great for smoothing the cut end of the arrow so that the insert seats flush against the end of the shaft. Itt only takes a few moments to shave the burs and smooth the end of the shaft, so don't let the process scare you from using this tool. It is well worth the money!
