I bought this quiver to mount on my Bear Kodiak Magnum. Mounted conventionally on my bow, I found it could not be tightened enough, and it chronically "buzzed" whenever I launched an arrow. Further, with the quiver mounted conventionally, it caused the lower limb to want to flip up during the draw cycle and release. I remounted it by reversing the attaching arms thus positioning the quiver forward of the riser rather than beside the riser (I'm right handed). The buzzing stopped, and the quiver so mounted on my bow has kept me from fighting the lower limb. Mounted forward of the riser also allows a natural cant when shooting. Would I recommend this product? Yes, but with the caveat that one needs to experiment with mounting it to one's riser.

I had this quiver on a 65# Bear Kodiak Magnum. I practice with 100-175 shots a session. It was noisy, so I put rubber between the bow and the quiver, on the screws. The mounting screws ALWAYS come loose. The bottom shaft holder would come loose constantly. Loc-tite helped fix that. I shoot cedar heavy spined arrows. the arrows always come loose from under the hood. and rattle. The hood would not stay attached to the steel shaft that held th quiver together. Finally gorilla glued it. The shaft that holds the quiver together finally snapped in half today right below the set screw that holds the arrow shafts. When I practice, I keep the quiver full of hunting arrows for the weight. I do not shoot the arrows in the quiver, so I did not man handle the quiver. Bottom line is that this quiver could be made much better.

Comments about Fred Bear Custom Bow Quiver:

I bought this for hunting and I am very satisfied. I practice with the same setup as used for hunting of course and I did hear a rattle. Rubber washers cured this, as well as tightening up all the screws. As to the earlier review of the quiver causing the lower limb to fight the upper, well that's impossible. The grippers were tight on my 11/32 arrows but taking arrows in and out during practice cured this also. I installed the bushings on my bow for this quiver and did notice if it is not mounted on a flat surface you can't make it quiet or secure. The inserts should be drilled close to 1/8th deeper than the bushing to keep from bottoming out. At least 500 arrows later, no problems at all.

This quiver worked great for me while hunting. I had not got a chance to test fit it on my bow, because I grabbed it from the mail and had to leave immediately to go hunting. It fit well, and is very adjustable to fit many bows. As others had noted, even carbon arrows do fit very tight. I think if you were shooting something other than carbon arrows you would need to modify it. My arrows were tight, but I would prefer a tight fit compared to a loose fit!

Comments about Fred Bear Custom Bow Quiver:

I've run this quiver on two Blackwidows. It's been excellent, more quiet than other more expensive models.

I will note that I mounted this quiver to custom brackets that attached at my limb bolts. They were stiff and the metal was flat against the brass bushings. If there is vibration and noise like others have noted in reviews, it might be due to the brackets.

Will also add: use some thread locking stuff on the gripper screws. Snug them up and even with substantial use they shouldn't loosen. You will, as the gripper wears, have to tighten the screws more to get the rubber to squish out and grip.

I get about two years out of my foam and grippers. Since 3R has low cost replacements I don't see that as an issue.

This quiver works great on my Bear Grizzly and Kodiak. The arrows are a little tight getting in and out. But a simple twisting of the arrow solves the problem.

Comments about Fred Bear Custom Bow Quiver:

The old / original Bear quiver for recurves and takedowns limited which bows you could use it on due to attachment bracket spacing. This one maintains Bear's standards while making it useable with more bows.

Comments about Fred Bear Custom Bow Quiver:

This quiver is VERY heavy thanks to all the metal on it. If you shoot it with no arrows the hood makes a chattering noise. The grippers seem like the were made for carbon arrows. I fought to get my cedar shafts in and almost broke them trying to get them out. Had I not tried to modifiy it to stop the chattering noise I would have sent it back for sure.
